Has anyone got one? I've just ordered one - impulse buy!
I'm not overly-excited about the games currently available for the Kinect, but I think there could be some awesome games eventually.

I'm told you need a lot of space to use it effectively but I'm no expert.

Got what I believe is sufficient space - i.e. I can stand more than 8 feet back from the Kinect and have enough width to play with. I think that's more important when you're playing two player.

I saw an article the other day where they claim people have hacked the kinect programming (Not the technical term) and made it usable for interactive porn.......
Sad, fat lonely couch potatoes of the world will be lumping up gravy in no time.

got our son one for christmas, i really like it, its like playing the wii, its fun but you dont have to hold any controllers etc...so you have the actual x-box for the serious gamers then the kinect for the fun/family stuff. best of both worlds, and agreed russ the games for the kinect will get better and better. so for me the kinect is a big thumbs up, hope that helps

Sounds like the sort of thing I'm after. I want to get the girlfriend involved with the xbox so she doesn't see it as an enemy! She liked the Wii so this could be just the thing.
Should be delivered in a couple of days so I'll get to find out for myself. There could potentially be some really fantastic games - just a matter of time I guess!

I think you and your girlfreind will enjoy it, the 2 discs i really enjoy are the sports one ( especially bowling ) as no controllers, you just use your hand to pick up the ball then bowl as if you were at a real bowling alley. also like the adventures game ( the raft game is a good laugh. ) let us know how you get on.

What happens with driving games in terms of throttle control etc?

Good point. Hard to figure how the mechanics of it might work for driving games, or even shooting ones. If they're determined to stick to the 'no controller' element of it, the technology must be pretty sharp to pick up on subtle body movements.
From what I've seen so far the games are very 'fun and family' orientated - I wonder if it will ever cater to more serious gamers. Online COD on Kinect could be all sorts of fun for Jenno and the lads.

It does look interesting and hopefully it will succeed where the Wii failed ie providing proper integrated 'gamers games'.
The Wii is fine for party stuff, but is weak as far as single player stuff goes

I don't believe Jenno and the lads could cope with the activity involved in playing Kinect, it would constitute over training and we all know they can only train for 90 mins in a day!! They should stick to vegging on the sofa with old fashioned controllers in order that they continue being sharp for match days.... oh yeah!!

The novelty of the Wii wore off very quickly for me, it was sat gathering dust unless there were a group of people over. I don't think I'd purchase one again, I've since sold it.
As I mentioned elsewhere the PS3 hasn't long broken and I'm weighing up what to get next. The Wii is very girlfriend friendly but this Kinect business might mean an XBox is the way to go.

Yeh, the Wii lost its appeal after a while. Without the motion sensor plus thing, the games were repetitive and just a case of getting a certain knack. I suppose the balance board is pretty cool though.
