If only Sham's "Hurry Up Harry" tune and format had the word "United" in it. I always thought "If the kids..." and Judas Priest's "United" were a bit, I dunno, soppy.

Do you think we will be sticking with sandstorm ? , I would like a change to be honest. I'm planning to change it but until I've got something I'm confident is right- and this is the most important music choice I'll probably ever have to make as the tannoy bloke- it's staying as Sandstorm. I will be trying a few things at the friendlies half an hour or so before kick-off to see what they sound like over the tannoy. My initial idea was the theme tune to Game of Thrones but that may be a bit too slow. I like Sandstorm and would be more than happy to keep it.

I propose Meat is Murder by everybody's favourite band. Doing our bit for animals and the environment like. Problem is not everyone appreciates these kind of lyrics while chomping on a burger. In that case, a better idea would be this one, which will be welcomed by everyone here at Abbey -

'Goin' Back To My Roots' (Odyssey version) with the lyrics changed to 'Goin' Back To My U's' would be my preference. I might have to record it myself. Zippin' up my boots Goin' back to my roots U's Yeah
To the place of my birth Back down to earthYes. That will make us seem a modern & dynamic outfit. Do please record it. Put the LP on the Stereogram & just shout "U's" into the microphone at the appropriate juncture of the cassette tape.

old school 'fanfare for the common man'.....we used to run out to this many years ago and still reminds me of my first trips to see the U's. Copeland's "Fanfare for a Common Man" shows a bit of class, bring it back. But presumably the Emerson Lake and Palmer version. How about a northern soul monster instrumental, such as Exus Trek by the Luther Ingram Orchestra. Afternoon of the Rhino by the Mike Post Coalition would also sound GREAT.

We pop-pickers always resolve on the same theme: ska & Northern Soul.

Judging by our home form last season, how about the Laurel and Hardy theme tune?

R Dean Taylor - There's a Ghost in my House (for the northern/motown contingent). There is, I believe, an instrumental version by The Funk Brothers.

Madness - One Step Beyond. This is definitely one I'm considering. The title (and the only lyrics in the song, I think) points towards the future intentions of the club.

TO BE FAIR my wife is a professional singer so I could ask her to record the whole vocal in her studio. It would sound ace. However, the chances of her agreeing to do this (for free) are nil and paying her for a session (ooooh eerr) from our joint bank account doesn't really work either.
