I saw Blur at Wembley on Saturday. That was excellent. Yesterday saw Hollywood Vampires in Birmingham. That was bonkers. Alice Cooper has still got it though. Then tonight was Pulp in Cardiff. They were amazing. Tomorrow I'm having a rest!

Saw The Lemon Twigs last month in London. Latest album "Everything Harmony" is a must listen, sort of a pastiche of Big Star, The Beatles and Cheap Trick, they might have been better born in a different decade but were reliably excellent live. Saw Island Of Love and Hotline TNT last week in London too, Island Of Love very clearly Dino Jr. worship but do it very well, and Hotline TNT sort of punk meets shoegaze, a little rougher round the edges, but nice to see youngsters in the audience going for it and not just the 6 Music dads, of which - increasingly - I am one. On the subject of which, Steve Lamacq was stood front left too.

Grace Jones at Love Supreme a couple of weeks ago was absolutely awesome, like why does anyone else even bother good. She is just as much a goddess at age 75 as she was in her heyday. If you get the chance, go see.

Was at Copenhell festival recently and saw about 35 different bands. The stand out ones being Def Leppard, Ghost, Halestorm, Defacing God, Mammoth WVH, Employed To Serve, Clutch, Electric Callboy, Pantera, Korpiklaani, Billy Gibbons, Spiritbox and Guns N' Roses.
Mötley Crüe also played and were probably the worst band there. Vince Neil kept forgetting the words and Nikki Six struts better than he plays. Hope they retire (for real) soon before they really become a joke band.

Got absolutely drenched at Tafwyl, a Welsh language music festival yesterday. Some absolutely great bands around at the moment like Adwaith, Gwilym, Alffa, Mellt. Candelas, who are one of my favourite bands right now, smashed it yesterday.
This isn't from the festival but is such a catchy song I wanted to share anyway

I was in Copenhagen during the week for Bruce Springsteen. It's a brilliant town and he is the greatest living musical performer. I recommend both.

I always feel like I’m missing something with Springsteen, I like so many comparable artists, Neil Young, Tom Petty and the like, but somehow he just doesn’t quite do it for me.
Anyway I saw Iron Maiden in Antwerp on Thursday night and that was spectacular.

Then again, I've seen Iron Maiden live and left very early, so maybe different strokes? I just cannot imagine someone leaving Springsteen early!

I don't think Springsteen helps himself with the set list. He will play for 3 hours or so which is amazing but unless you know all his back catalogue you won't recognise half of what he plays.
I saw him at Glastonbury and left with mixed feelings as he is obviously an excellent performer, but there were songs I'd have liked to have heard that he didn't play.

I was listening to Alffa while working on Friday, and like Candelas too; I keep meaning to properly check out the other three as well. Sounds like you had a bumper lineup. Mr KW and I did just one day of the Ely Folk Festival last weekend. Blackbeard's Tea Party were great fun as ever, and Ferocious Dog were fantastic. My fitbit was well into the red zone. A friend and I nipped off for half an hour with Funke and the Two Tone Baby between BBTP and FD, which was very good. I hadn't heard of him until then and later listened to some of his stuff on YouTube which wasn't a patch on hearing it live. Mr KW decided to remain parked up in the vicinity of the (very good) beer and cider tent rather than broaden his musical horizons. Top tip - If anyone spots the Little Panjab food stall at an event their veg samosas are bloody amazing. Good for soaking up the ciders that averaged around 6.5%!

I'm on the not really bothered by Springsteen side, don't hate his stuff just never really clicked.
I also saw Pulp recently (Finsbury Park) and they were excellent.
Caught Fortitude Valley in London last week who were superb and I'm off to Truck Festival this weekend so will see a vast array of acts.

I’m not so ignorant to dismiss his huge international success, enduring longevity and formidable reputation in the live arena and say he’s shite, but it’s just not for me.
