Zebrahead , Teenage Bottlerocket , Spunge , and Millie Manders & the Shutup in Norwich last night. Ridiculously good value at £23 for four top bands. Really only went to see TBR who were pure speedpunk , think classic era Ramones at 78 instead of 45 , complete with guitars slung at knee level. Predictably excellent. Spunge are Tewkesbury`s top ska-punk band and clearly just enjoy what they do with no pretensions to fame or fortune. Zebrahead`s blend of punk/metal/rap isn`t my usual preferred blend but they still headlined more than adequately. Special mention for Millie Manders who had the unenviable job of opening proceedings at the graveyard hour of 7.00 but really lit the fire for the other three bands , I was impressed enough to resolve to make efforts to see them again before too long. The Waterfront was virtually sold out which is hugely encouraging for a cold Thursday night in January - and as a final note it made a pleasant change for this decrepit old punk rocker to be one of the oldest members of the audience rather than (as is increasingly becoming the case with the OAP bands from the Seventies that I tend to go and see live) one of the youngest.

Oh neat. Always liked a bit of Spunge and Teenage Bottlerocket.

Unless he follows through with the burning swastikas on stage then they can't be taken seriously. Oh to be so punished, a full 25 years on, for the naivety of expressing an idealised thought about the appropriation of ancient symbols. They are an amazing band. i was only taking the piss, but, like you, they took themselves too seriously.I wasn't going to be derogatory about them, but to me they're pretty dreadful. Oasis for the gap year kids.

I don't know if you mean that I generally take myself too seriously, or just in my reply to your swastika comment, but I have to stick up for someone who cocked up badly when there are still people who have him down as a bit of a Nazi. I've met a couple of people who do genuinely think that, so I wasn't sure with you.

Think maybe I'm not niche enough for this thread.

I saw Panic Shack and Twst at the Lexington last night for a BBC Introducing IWD showcase.
Two very differnt acts, Twst would not be something i'd normally listen to but she put on an entertaining show. Panic Shack are pretty great a bit punky and with songs about Meal Deals and raging at people who put the milk in first, things that i think most of us can relate to.
