Heh.
Southend have done it too but they would've had some pretty dire financial issues.
Typically I feel like the majority of clubs going down from league 2 have been a basket case.
Scunthorpe went straight through the conference if that counts for anything.

It's just odd with FGR because it's not like the investment dried up or anything. They just... made bad decisions that compounded off the back of an absolute horror season last year.
In all honesty I think their biggest mistake was actually getting rid of Burchnall, or at the very least making a batshit appointment when they did. Burchnall wouldn't have kept them up last year, but Ferguson was a bizarre, absolute car crash of an appointment & I really don't think they'd find themselves in the mess they're currently in if they'd given Burchnall the chance to steady the ship in L2.

Agreed. You could argue they got lucky in appointing Rob Edwards who got them achieving much more than they should. And then everything went wrong after he left but as you say the investment never really dried up. Ferguson was an odd one and Deeney was odder still. But it doesn't explain their freefall plummet. Won't miss them though. Except convincing me that vegan food could be better than Ok.

Agreed. You could argue they got lucky in appointing Rob Edwards who got them achieving much more than they should. It was a little more than that. The summer after they got promoted they lost not just Edwards, but also their director of football and another important backroom staff member too (chief scout maybe?) along with 4 crucial players. In that sense I wouldn't say it's luck they appointed Edwards – they had good people in the important roles who made good decisions, coaching and player recruitment included, as proven by the fact that they were all then headhunted to move further up the food chain. They never seemed to recover from that, which is understandable to a degree, but even that I feel like shouldn't have been enough to send them straight back down through L2. You have to be really rubbish to finish in the bottom 2 of that division and usually the teams that find themselves there are either ones that sort of got lucky in being promoted in the first place and eventually find that catching up with them or ones that have been mismanaged year after year. FGR don't really fit the mould of either of those.

Fleetwood look to be good candidates for successive relegations.

Fleetwood look to be good candidates for successive relegations. That would be nice. Must admit I'm quite intrigued to see what happens with them next year.

According to a few locals they're going to experience a severe budget cut in the summer.
