Don't mind Walker sticking around though, as long as his legs don't go he's still one of the best in his position(s). Will he be able to keep the standard up all the way to the world cup in 2026 though? There were questions over him this summer, so maybe it's best to move on and try something new in time for the next tournament. It's a tough one because he's been a great servant for the national team, but I do think it's a question that needs to be asked. Very early days this season, but he's not getting minutes for City so far either.

Aside from Maguire's return, that looks an interesting squad. Despite myself, I might watch...

I stood next to Trippier watching the Main St parade at Eurodisney a few weeks ago. One of those footballers who's incredibly slight in the flesh.

I once dined with Mark Roberts and was taken with how little fat the MODERN DAY footballer carries upon his carcass. Not that he was naked, mind. I'm not a fecking prevert.

That's what the priesthood is for. And banishing thoughts of fiddling, of course.

Very young side, aside from Morro, only noticed Stokes from the potential starting XI, although there may have be more (Kaunda/Njoku, but wouldn't class them as first XI). Nice to see O'Neill coasting through the game! Chadwick actually made 3 or 4 very smart saves, looks like he has potential to challenge to be the starting keeper in time. The lads wanted too much time on the ball at times, and needed to be more clinical in front of goal, but they will learn (hopefully!) Gayle still knows where the onion bag is, could be an interesting acquisition of it does get over the line.

Okedina was there at right back, and I think from the still images Gardner played some part (although couldn't spot him on the highlights), enjoyed Liam reclaiming the number 8 shirt and Njoku nearly scoring a hilarious goal. Agree that Chadwick came out of that well , one distribution mistake which is going to cost you but it looked a fairly mismatched side so he did well to keep the score down.
