There are people who struggle to get food and we have the least areas covered by woodland in Europe and yet we choose to grow fields full of pumpkins for people to carve and throw away. Madness! |

Being Hallowe'en born she decided to throw a party for me when I was 8. This was England in the 1970s. Ireland had a rich tradition of celebrating it; we didn't. No pumpkins that day but plenty of bobbin' apples. And ghost stories. She, I and England haven't looked back since. |

They certainly shouldn’t be “celebrating” this abomination of a day, regardless of how much “fun” this is supposed to be. Bah humbug etc etc. |

Ah yes Halloween, Oíche Samhain but for over the top nonsense talk to the Americans, not the Irish. It was far from pumpkins I was raised. 🎃 Over the pond they take any festival and make it bigger. I doubt they have Columbus Day in Italy and they sure don’t turn the River Liffey green in Dublin but Chicago manage that Wes Hoolahan far too good? On that we can all agree 👍 |
