"this fellow starts babbling about the Arsenal match and how apparently it isn't going so well for them. He's talking to me like I should care one way or the other"
Usually when you tell these people you support Cambridge it's followed by some patronising twaddle and justifaction for their support "Mate, I really respect that. Yeah, the game needs people like you supporting grass roots football.."
'It's not really grass roots' I try to say but can't really get a word in
"I aint really got a choice in supporting Arsenal because My mate Kevins Dads ex boyfriends sisters brother had a pet guinea pig that was named Gunnersaurus. It's in the blood mate"
"Hmm, yes. I see. I support my Cambridge United because I was born a mile away from the ground" I say
Then they'll list a few players from the Beck era just to show they know something about their local team
"Dion Dublin.."
"Oh yeah" I reply, as though I'd forgotten
"John Taylor"
"uh huh, him too"
"Who was that other one?" they ask
"Oh, you mean Colin Tinder don't you"
"That's him!"
Pah. Bloody people and their stupid lives.

Yeah often talked about grass roots. Some, I honestly get the impression think that pretty much anyone can slip a pair of boots on and have 10 mins.
My boy plays in and under 10 team who I coach and since they stated three years ago always wears either a home or away cam utd kit every week to training.
When he first started all the others were asking who is that and laughing as they wore their premiership or European club kits.
Still the same now accept now he replies with are you going to watch Barcelona, Man City etc today. Love it I explained that he has already been to most league 2 grounds over the last few seasons when they at most have been to one premier league ground.

Simon, the owner of the Mensroom in Cherry Hinton is a home and away Yid. And yes, Cherry Hinton born and bred. Disappointing but there you go. It's not that he's not interested in CUFC, he'll always know who they're playing but Tottenham seems to be in the family blood. He's not alone in these parts. He'd be more tolerable than an Arsenal equivalent, that's for sure! Often known to "represent" CUFC when required. Shameful, back in my day when there was a barbers near the post office end of Cherry Hinton village, the proprietor there was a proper U & we could chat all through my haircut about our team. I've started reminiscing now about the old days & having hair !

Is it just me, or is this whole Moyes thing not even remotely sexist?

Is it just me, or is this whole Moyes thing not even remotely sexist? Agreed. As is the norm these days, a great big fuss about absolutely nothing. At least it's given the feminist movement something to gnash their teeth at this week. Great Britain 2017 - The Home of the Professionally Offended.

Quite. Like a lot of other worthy causes outrage at things like this mean the real issues don't get addressed.
Not only is it boring, it's also counter productive.

I'm not a massive Moyes lover at all but storm in a teacup. Which reminds me, if the missus doesn't bring my lunch in shortly she's liable to get a slap.

The problem is - the world is full of nut cases these days. It's like this whole gender thing (there are two, sorry guys) people get upset by the slightest thing. It isn't even that he has suggested "giving a woman a slap" more the "I'll give you a slap EVEN THOUGH you are a woman".
It is totally mental, but if there are people with nothing better to do - let them get on with it.

Is it just me, or is this whole Moyes thing not even remotely sexist? Would he have said the same to a bloke? If yes then it isn't sexist. I reckon he would have as it was clearly a joke so not sexist.

A Scotsman would be happy to give anyone from south of the border a slap, I dare say.

There seems to be more outrage about whether people are outraged than people being outraged.
