To cause offence it surely needs the person being addressed to find the remark offensive? Which in this case the reporter has clearly stated that she didn`t. Yes it was clumsy , he`s apologised , apology has been accepted , get over it. Can`t we find any more important things going on in the world to get wound up about?
Thank God the professionally-offended classes don`t know what NWA stands for.............

Well you say that, although, that doesn't prevent this quite staggering jump of logic (as spotted in the Guardian, natch): '' Look, it’s right there in the joke – he couldn’t have been more progressive if he’d affectionately called a reporter of colour “my N-word”. It’s a mark of how relaxed he is about their superficial differences.''

There's one or two of the "Professionally offended" on here, especially when we lose at home...

Whether it was sexist or not, it was really out of order.

"It's like this whole gender thing (there are two, sorry guys) people get upset by the slightest thing"Ah!, the snowflake in me just can't leave that comment hanging, sorry. I believe there are more than two myself, or at the very least I like to believe it's far more important to someone that they are described in a way that accepts their differences and embraces them than it is for me to cling to an idea that there are only two genders. ...just to take it back to random football thoughts. A mention for a United great from last weeks David Squires cartoon in the Guardian, lets play a game and see who can spot it first. How fun for us. www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2017/mar/28/david-squires-on-great-british-football-own-goals-oh-and-article-50Andrew

Thank God the professionally-offended classes don`t know what NWA stands for............. New World Awder? I don't mind offense. It's flavour. Weak tea offends me. Pineapple on pizza might offend you. We're all different. Great. It's this insistence that your offense is *important* that's irksome. I didn't like very much that in Primary School, people told me that Sandy was a girl's name. It offended me. And as a five-year-old, that's probably the greatest offense I'd known. I quickly got over it. You could of course blame that on it not actually being important, and while you're right, I still didn't learn that until years after I stopped caring. It's just that my offense didn't really *do* anything. I could get upset, but who'd listen? I could hit someone, but that would be disproportionate. You can't actually *use* offense, except where you can (in which case, do something fucking productive, don't whine on The Guardian's comment section), so you either hold onto it and be miserable, or let it go.

The beds for away fans hashtag after last nights postponed Champions League game is awesome. Every now and then football becomes something 'more', doesn't it? Very classy.
Clap clap clap. x

Do you not find it a bit cringeworthy though? What Monaco fan was getting a 10pm flight home or a train home, surely the vast majority of them had hotels booked

Maybe the vast majority did...but what about the small minority who didn't?
It was a positive story to come out of something potentially quite frightening, and certainly disrupting to the plans of some. What I find cringworthy is attempted murder to make a political or religious point. A response like that of the Dortmund fans is the best possible response for me, It shows the sort of compassion and humanity that is so often beyond our 'leaders' and means that means we won't be divided or cowered by threats to our safety.
It'll be the same elsewhere. People made homeless or familes decimated by American bombs will be helped by their neighbours and friends...everywhere you look, and no matter how desperate the situation, there are hints of communities supporting each other through dificulties.
I think it's beautiful - it might be an agressive world at times, but at ground level there is beauty in it's people.

And then some Leicester fans make absolute bellends out of themselves and the positive image from Dortmund comes crashing back down to earth.

And then some Leicester fans make absolute bellends out of themselves and the positive image from Dortmund comes crashing back down to earth. It was all the fault of the Spanish police. Fancy trying to control drunken English football fans who appear to have no respect for the city, or its people, they are visiting.

Fancy trying to control drunken English football fans who appear to have no respect for the city, or its people, they are visiting. There is blame on both sides. It seems to be a very similar situation to when England fans were attacked in Marseille; first hint of trouble, everyone blames the English football fans abroad. It would appear that a small minority of Leicester fans were acting like idiots, but on the flip side, the Spanish police seem to have attacked anyone who was English. There are plenty of photos doing the rounds of Leicester fans with ridiculous injuries, considering that the likelihood is all they were doing was having a beer in the sun (which isn't a crime).

If you may pardon my French, I'd just like to spare a moment to speak about a beloved friend of ours in the Media.
Kelvin MacKenzie is a syphilitic boil seeping away on the inflammed glans of society. I mean, seriously man? And The Sun, my word. Is there any barrel left to scrape away?
I'm sure football will eventually eat itself, anyone got something uplifting? This Spurs side are really something....
