We need to get our youth away from the current first team coaching set up as much as possible to aid their development as real footballers capable of real time thinking during a match.

Thanks for the update. Good to see our youngsters doing well. And good to see the CEN cribbing from the messageboard as usual. Lazy sods couldn't even be arsed to change the headline.

Knowles has apparently been recalled and has left Cambridge City after a fairly decent loan spell.

Tom Knowles played 28 times for City in all competitions, mainly on the wing, and scored 10 goals.

Stick him on the bench today ? Got to be a no brainer if we can't get 7 subs !

Stick him on the bench today ? Got to be a no brainer if we can't get 7 subs ! I'm guessing that's why he's been recalled. It'd be nice to see him given a cameo too, not just making up the numbers.

Hang on a minute...this could resemble a ‘good news’ story if we’re not careful! That’d make a refreshing change!

He looked good the couple of times I saw him. It'd be quite some desperate clutching of straws for Derry to hope an 18 year old is the answer to our goalscoring woes though, so my guess is this is with a view to him going out on loan at conference or conference south level.

Having watched him play (as a substitute) for City 3 weeks ago, while he looked good at that level, I would be amazed if he is ready to step up to the first team at the moment.

If there's a spare seat on the bench then I can see no reason why Tom shouldn't be part of the match day squad. Getting a feel for the intensity of a first team game is a benefit for any of the younger players.

I guess it's preferable to being used by an idiot to make a point that only damages his own credibility.
I do think he'll be off on loan again in January, though.

According to Edinburgh, it sounds as though the Coulson deal is as good as done.
A good lad, but nothing special at FL level, and probably at his correct level now.

It will be sad to see him leave just like it was when Hughes left, but unfortunately he's not up to the standard we want to be. All the best to him.
