Such small minded views. It's a shame the bigger picture can't be seen and you're angry at the wrong people. But I guess being able to get to town is more important. Bah. Nothing of the sort. Didn't say anything about what the protest is about or the people whom are doing so. Just the means of how its being carried out.

Absolute tossers!
As Jerry says, how many of them have kids, they cause far more in Co2 emmissions than anything else. Those who have 3 or more are certainly hypocrites.

Excellent. Fully supportive. Andrew How much Co2 does football produce? All those trips to other clubs all over the country? Assume you don't visit away games?

Correct, I don't. Maybe one a season if that.
I'm able to walk to home games.

Yes, that would work.
I think there are many ways of changing your habits to benefit the environment before you get to the point of banning away fans at football grounds though.

Bring back the water cannons. Hopefully the water cannon are temporarily unavailable as they are currently being used against the lobotomised knuckle-draggers "supporting" convicted football hooligan , convicted tax cheat , convicted fraudster and UKIP special advisor Tommy Robinson - by throwing bottles at the police - as he adds a conviction for contempt of court to his impressive criminal record. What a complete and utter EVANS.

And here, the details of the latest faux protest: xrcambridge.org/events.htmlSo, on Saturday, driving in Cambridge may be a little difficult as Henrietta, Miles, Henry and Jessica hold their 'reclaim the street' jamboree without the benefit of a) public support, b) any permission whatsoever, and c) any thought to the livelihoods of those owning and operating businesses in the City Centre. The damage is not simply the not very well disguised attempt to blockade the Grand Arcade car park, but actually the genuinely off putting effect of making any sane individual at all wanting to go anywhere near this charade. Our businesses will lose serious money. Meanwhile, the tailbacks caused by this wholly irresponsible and selfish behaviour will just pollute the planet XR claims to care for further. I'm sure Emma Thompson has her private jet fuelled and ready to go for the occasion. There is a simple solution to so-called climate change - stop breeding. It may be more relevant to ask XR members why they believe it is responsible to have 3 or 4 children, all of whom will ultimately drain the World of its natural resources. Here are some depressing statistics showing the true cause of the issues the World now faces: Year 1500: World Population 450 Million Year 1900: 1.6 Billion Year 1971: 3.6 Billion (The year I was born) Year 2000: 6 Billion Year 2019: 7.63 Billion. One doesn't need a degree in rocket science to figure out that the root cause of so many current issues is simple population growth. Rather than blockading public highways to promote their own 'we hate cars' view, perhaps XR needs to start promoting the benefits of maximum one or two child families and contraception. Scarcity is hardly a modern issue. It's something everyone (all animals including humans) throughout time has had to cope with to survive. The unique way humans deal with it has nothing to do with growing numbers of people. We worked out in the commercial and industrial revolutions how to produce much more than we need. Over the last few years, in the UK we introduced draconian 2 child limits for Universal Credit and Child Tax Credit, and the benefit cap that has plunged so many of our children into primary poverty and reliance on food banks. An incredible action for the world's 5th largest economy and the thin end of the wedge towards the kind of actions infamously taken in China with the 1 child policy and India with forced sterilisation. The real reason we still have scarcity has absolutely nothing to do with population growth and everything to do with what Bernie Sanders said when he recently referred to 3 billionaires in America having more wealth than the bottom half of the US population. We simply have to stop ripping each other off and work out a more responsible way to share out what we have for the benefit of all.

But it is population that is killing the planet so any attempt to limit that is the greenest thing you can do. If you cant afford to have kids, don't have them!!! Having children creates far more C02 than say flying or driving yet most of these XR idiots probably have a few.

Mark, as always, you speak perfect sense. I wouldn't for a second think we should (as we undoubtedly have), as a society, be legislating against the best interests of children, but we absolutely should be educating and encouraging limits on family size if we are serious as a society about tackling the issue of climate change. Part of this issue should potentially include longer term plans to restrict state support to two children, but not until the policy has been properly considered and given sufficient time to be accepted by the population allowing them to plan sensibly for their own family in the future. Where the government went wrong with this was to force it into law far too quickly because of the desire to get the frankly disastrous Universal Credit system up and running, meaning little or no education was allowed for in advance. It was a case of 'the law is this, deal with it', hence why many families struggled dreadfully.
My background, as many know on here, was in aviation for two decades, and during that time we saw an explosion in passenger numbers as flights became much more plentiful and much, much cheaper. This wasn't just an attempt at market creation, (Ryanair did however achieve that to a certain level) it also corresponded in the vast and quick increase in populations, particularly as new generations grew up and wanted to see the World cheaply. Nothing wrong with any of that of course, except to state the bleedingly obvious, more people doesn't just mean more water, food (CO2 from meat etc), cars, etc etc, it also means more flights (the very central target, alongside cars, of XR), more power (ie, Chinese & Indian coal fired power plants) and more densification and urbanisation, pouring more concrete and creating new infrastructure all of which adds up to more and more harmful pollution. Population growth does then in my mind need to form one of the key challenges to consider when determining how to achieve carbon neutrality, but it will take a brave government to tackle it.

Population growth amongst native Europeans is not a problem.... in fact just the reverse. We need more babies. We should follow Hungary's example. Population growth in the third world is another matter.

Stop sniggering at the back. This isn’t even remotely funny: www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-49918971/extinction-rebellion-lose-control-of-fake-blood-hoseA very brave effort from the elite tactical unit. Phil Kingston, an 83-year-old activist, said: "I fight with all my being for my four grandchildren in this situation of existential danger." As he was led away in handcuffs, Phil, 83, said, “I’m just hoping they let me out of chokey in time for Christmas. It’s the XR party and I’ve organised a piss-up in a brewery. Not in the UK of course, it’s f*cking freezing that time of year, I’m 83 you know and the bastards have cut off the winter fuel allowance. Everyone deserves a bit of winter sun so f*ck it, we’re all off to Lanzarote. We’ve even arranged Greta as a guest speaker. It’s going to be ace.”

It'd have looked pretty cool it they pulled that stunt off tbf, but it's bloody hilarious how badly wrong it went.
Some balls to drive up to the treasury in an untaxed vehicle and "attack" it in the current climate. You'd have thought they'd be killed by police in moments, even if they are white folk.
