It is a truly terrible nickname. "United" ditto. We should be "the Scholars" or something along those lines. Perhaps "the Founders" to acknowledge the Cambridge rules. Even something like "the Boatmen" would be an improvement. Up the yellas

'Founders' is a good one. It sort of rather arrogantly suggests that the rest of the footballing World needs to look up to us with a degree of awe. Nothing not to like about that! Yes, they're mere interlopers. Upstarts. Even those 19th century clubs that predate us by decades. The downside is that it would seem more appropriate for founders of the football league. Edit: tried the thesaurus for rulemakers and the best I could see was Pioneers.

Even something like "the Boatmen" would be an improvement. The University is a mediocre bag of monetised shite and will be bankrupt within a year, with luck. Who'd want to be linked with that corporate arsery?
We were the Wasps in the '30s; Abbots also circulated. U's is terrible, but so is the toilet seat badge. It's so terrible it's good.

Wife Beater having meltdown on Pish Radio calling our goal a scandalous decision 😂😂 the night gets better He is an utter, utter, utter Evans. A seething boyman. Every breath in that interview was cack: calling our players more experieced (Neal? Worman?), grizzling hysterically over the equaliser, refusing to acknowledge the defeat. He spent the game screaming & swearing at the officials. Bonner was apparently the model of composure: total class.

There was a time when my old boss asked what nickname Cambridge had and as a neutral he was most unimpressed when i told him and he attempted to come up with a better name.
Various suggestions based mainly around the Abbey or University, included; The Abbots, The Monks, The Lecturers, The Masters, The Graduates, The Fenmen.
My choice would be linked with St Mary Magdalene Chapel as its fairly unique; The Lepers (although this may have been more appropriate during the John Beck years)

How about The Habit? Monks wear habits, going to the Abbey was once a habit. Get The Abbey Habit was once an advertising slogan.

The cut throats? ( cut throat lane) or The punters? I'm sure a chant of "Come on you Punters" would be quite amusing.

Even something like "the Boatmen" would be an improvement. What a load of rubbish. Why do people have a fascination of trying to change the club and who we are. It’s not the most interesting name or most sexy. But it’s our CUFC, and that’s how it should stay. We don’t need to ‘glam it up’ or change the fucking badge.

Ferguson says he classes that as a draw: I think he thinks our goal may have been offside. Anyone else picking up on the hints?
