One thing I can confirm from last night is that Harvey Knibbs is not very good at football Agreed, contracted until 2023 as well, and will almost certainly play a first team role at some point this season. Calderwoods rather strange comments about him, making sense now.

At various points I've written off Dunk, Taylor, O'Neil, May... just from the current squad! Agreed that Knibbs hasn't looked up to the standard of the rest of the squad, but if Bonner sees something in him worth perservering wit then that's good enough for me. Bonner's not exactly got a bad record with strikers so far!

watched it on i follow. had nothing else to do.
couple of things
i really like Worman. when he moved into the centre he reminded me of luke Berry. i think he will benefit hugely from watching and working with Wes. Lankester will play a big part later in the season
there's a couple of spurs mid field players i would love to see hear on loan

Honestly, it’s shameful. Appreciate people taking kids but other than that nah. At least four of the Spurs side - John, Clarke, Devine and White - are in and around the first team squad semi-regularly so it was a decent test but this competition needs to be ignored and to be honest this probably our worst night in a long long time seeing that attendance, up there with heavy defeats in non-league. A decent attendance at the Abbey is “up there with heavy defeats in non league”? Really?

However to compare the attendance of 2,000 (when prices are heavily discounted) to the heavy defeats in non league is one hell of a stretch.

2,000 is a disgraceful attendance.
Hope all the rasclaats, pussyclaats, turncoats, scabs, and anyone else who shamefully attended last night got a nice good grasp on their ankles, because you lot are going first when it gets stuck up us.
For shame.

This competition is not a precursor to B teams in the EFL. There would be such an outcry it would never happen, just like the European Super League. The football league is the main event. The EFL trophy however is a subsidiary competition that people are free to attend or not attend.

As a lot of posters on here say, if it's good enough for Mark Bonner, it's good enough for me.
It's a competition that has already earned us vital prize and gate money and the prospect of quite a bit more to come, given fringe first teamers essential playing time and gives us fans a chance to see them develop let alone see stars of the future like Kai Y.
It keeps the feel-good factor going at the club, the winning mentality, involvement of the squad, people pushing for places and remember the last final with a crowd got over 80 thousand fans in at Wembley. Are they all wrong for supporting their club? And who doesn't like a night game?
It gives the chance of smaller clubs like ours even since the revamp a chance to win silverware like Lincoln or get to the final like Shrewsbury.
The Trophy is here to stay however imperfect so let's get on with it and support our club on every front and every level.

Suspect we're probably not far off having won Okedina's fee in prize money from this competition, if we haven't already.

It’s knowing and wilfully getting into bed with the EFLs shitshow of a competition that is the first step to governing bodies long term ambitions to change the best football pyramid in the world to suit itself in a negative fashion for far more clubs than it would be positive. We were in a crowd of 283 at a 10th division match last night. That’s higher than some third division crowds in major European leagues. Interference with the pyramid would change the system as we know it. That is what they want and as crowds in this godforsaken competition rise, it gets ever closer.

The fact that in this country we get such levels of support even so far down means that this structure is unique to England, and B teams in the EFL will never be accepted, and will never happen.
If it was such a threat surely CFU and CUSP would be extremely vocal on this subject
