The Football League isn't going to cave in to the idea of B teams in the league pyramid based on the attendances in this competition. If it were ever to happen, it'd be because the Premier League makes the FL a financial offer the clubs don't feel they can afford to refuse. If you don't want to go to these games, then don't go. The season B teams were added to this trophy they justified it's inclusion because a few clubs had more fans in certain games, mainly games against local rivals or in the late knockout rounds, than in previous seasons. And besides if there's no vocal and prominent opposition then lower league fans will just be walked over.

Pretty low having a go at the fans who travelled. I hope none of you have sky tv, prime etc which fund the league that has caused so many problems in the game. Presumably everyone having a go at our fans for attending the game is firmly in the 'Bonner Out' camp based on his support for the competition? Just because Bonner uses a competition he has to play in to benefit his team on the short term doesn't get rid of the long term dangers this competition poses.

Up to the individuals whether to attend these games or not. Boycotting will make absolutely no difference

But he's openly said this week that he 'loves' the competition - how can you support a man who is endorsing it so enthusiastically?

"Presumably everyone having a go at our fans for attending the game is firmly in the 'Bonner Out' camp based on his support for the competition?"
I think that's a stretch.
I also think you have to seperate the 'competition' from the 'format'. This competition existed before B-Teams and has always been excellent for the reasons Bonner gave in his interview so I can see why he would back it. The 'format', however, is a disgrace and not something he would or should comment on.
That's said, it's not really for any of us to say how you should or shouldn't support United. Do a boycott or don't do a boycott but enough with the bloody mud slinging.
Andrew

Your final two sentences sum up my position pretty perfectly.

It’s a requirement of the EFL Trophy rules that our manager and senior players to support the competition. And as the club support the participation of Premier League reserve teams in the competition due to the enormous bribe we’re getting, it would be daft for Bonner to contradict that. Fans don’t have to tow the line and should send a clear signal that we will not accept Premier League reserve teams in our competitions

I'm not one for shaming other fans despite my own hatred of B teams in the competition, but can appreciate that a manager's view of a competition will be different to a fan's and so needs to be judged differently. It's been profitable and useful for the team, which is Bonner's immediate concern.

Bonner and the players are all paid employees, no doubt they also get bonuses for doing well in this competition. Their opinion is hardly objective.

No, obviously not - I don't seriously expect anyone to want Bonner out because of his support for the trophy. I just find your willingness to call out the 133 U's fans who travelled to Rotherham to support the team on a freezing cold night in January a bit unnecessary.

Me and others who have called these "supporters" out have explained time and time again why we do so. At the very least they are extremely naive and short sighted. The same sort of people who cross picket lines.

On the flip side, not attending a competition that had low attendances already & making a few disparaging comments on a message board is hardly sticking it to the man and showing them that they couldn't possibly introduce B teams.
