He has 2 years on his current one. Yeah, but that's not worth the paper it's written on when a club with the pedigree of Walsall come calling... Are you being sarcastic?

I'm not convinced contracts with the player having the option are really a thing for us anymore. Not on young players signing their 1st or 2nd pro-deal anyway, and probably not on older players without the caveat that they have to play a certain number of games to qualify; in which case you can just stop playing them before they reach that point if you don't want to trigger it.

Andrew If a senior player had their heart set on playing out the next two years in one club, I doubt they would accept that number of games played proviso. A deal has to satisify both parties enough to agree.

Is one of 'six to watch across the EFL' in The Football League paper, which I had completely forgotten is absolutely dreadful! Why does all football media have to be so tawdry? Anyway, nice write-up for him.

I'd really like to see extensions for Brophy & Bennett announced in the next few weeks. Maybe Mannion too.

Obviously still pretty sore about last night but just a thought Lennett’s performance… one of his most impressive, IMO. Because he got bullied in the first half and it was a struggle for him. The kind of night where you’re not having it all your own way and it can turn into a disaster. But he learnt, adapted, and was head and shoulders above everyone else in the second half.
I came away thinking it’s one thing to play well when your opponent isn’t really asking questions of you. But when the opposition is making your life really tough and giving you a hard game, and you can adapt to it and match them, it’s another step up. Very impressed with the lad.

He’s developed his own signature move which I don’t really see any of our other defenders do, mainly because they are a foot taller and 15 kgs bigger. He’s perfected the “soft foul” when facing his own goal and in the vicinity of the touch line and goal line and under pressure from an attacker with no out ball available. He gets between the ball and the attacker, sticks his backside out and gives the attacker a glimpse of the ball to entice them to make contact with him which sends him down sprawling. Ref gives a free kick everytime. Yes it’s a soft foul but it’s clever how the forward always falls for it when he doesn’t need to make contact. Plus he’s great to watch when going for the goal line to get a cross in.

He’s learnt that well from the likes of George Williams and Luke Hannant who were both excellent at getting those type of fouls.

In the FLP's Team of the Week again. He's such a great player to watch. So many of the things he does lift the crowd. The moment he pinched the ball off their striker when he'd been through on goal was brilliant.

Every day is a school day at the moment. Most teams seem to be targeting him in one way or another, but on the whole he is coping brilliantly. It takes time to learn all the skills and nuances to different opposition’s approaches and at some point he will get torn apart in one game, but is progression to watch is just a joy. Enjoy him while you can folks.
