Well, here we go. Another cup final, and a really tough test for us on the road. Bullishness rising after an excellent performance against Ipswich, although Barnsley much improved by all accounts since we last met during the Autumn, in a game we could well have taken something from but then spectacularly imploded!
Same team for me, hopefully with Williams continuing in the back 3 if Jonesy doesn't make it, and a slot for Thomas on the bench if he's ready. I think it will be a tight game, we look much less likely to concede than we have done for ages, but do we have enough in the tank to threaten up front?

Yeah I think the team on Saturday was bang on, so would avoid tinkering if possible. It'll be a tough one again and I won't be too disheartened if we lose, but think we can get something out of it based on the last two games. Some goals would be good but a ground out 0-0 won't be the end of the world given we have some more favourable games coming up to hopefully start picking up a few 3 pointers.

Nothing to fear in this game and no reason why we shouldn't get something from it. I wouldn't have said that a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah, I fancy us to get something. That three man defence has stood up well to an a physical attack in Lincoln and a more fleetfooted one in Ipshit so I'm feeling that's in a good place.
The midfield of McDigbibbs was a fine balance of energetic, tenacious and rapid on Saturday so I feel like we're solid there too.
Bonner was right to prioritise defence and midfield, I think. If the spine of the side is solid then it gives you a chance.

I’m more optimistic than I was, but let’s get out of that mindset that it’s OK to lose a game. We need to be targeting points from every game. And with this new, more solid, side, that’s not an unreasonable expectation. I liked the reaction on Saturday where a couple of players were on their backs not with exhaustion but with disappointment.

Decided on the back of Saturday to go to this one. Never been to Oakwell so new ground as well. Agree with the poster above it will be tough (all games are) but we have to be positive and give it a go. Same team for me assuming Jones fit.

First time I went there I was staying at a friend's nearby and we ended up watching Barnsley host Ipswich. The late Dalian Atkinson ran complete riot, tearing their defence apart with pace and power. Also remember drinking in some cracking pubs before and after the game. Not sure if they're still there as this was all in the late 80s.

Agree with the above I fancy us to take something from this one, and would take a point now. February looks a key month to build on the momentum of the previous two results, so ideally I would want 10/11 from the next 5 games.

0-1 to us. Sam Smith scores a header (so obvs not a shot) from a James Brophy cross. We're back!

I saw my first ever United away win there, nearly 40 years ago. So I’m going for a repeat of that 3-2 win.

Also looking forward to ticking a new ground off and an heading therewith one of my Yorkshire based friends.
Last game he came to was that 3-2 win at Chesterfield, with the last minute Harrison Dunk winner.
Would take that result again!

We were losing away every game and it became a thing in the media (local and National as we were Div2/Championship then) and Barnsley helped us to stop the rot. Hopefully same again on Saturday.
