It's a smart move to be non committal. Hopefully it means we don't end up with something rubbish. Think the issue we will have is highlighted in this thread, there's not clear iconography associated with our club and the old badges don't lead themselves to a modernization like Man City for example.

I don't like the modern adaptations of badges like Stevenage have, think I'd rather have a return of an old badge than a new one like that. To be honest whilst I don't think there's anything particularly standout about our badge I've definitely got a special attachment to it.
Think for me if the badge was to change I'd want it to keep a bit of continuity, maybe some of the shape like the turrets/bridge. Would be nice for it to include "United in Endeavour" on it somewhere too. The badge in the 50 year kit was really nice, though I think it would be considered old fashioned now? Maybe there's a way to merge that with the current one?
Also if it ever comes to a public vote then the club need to be careful because those things are so easily hijacked by rival supporters.

Yeah it really ought to include UIE.

Our badge is great. The last 2 we had were rubbish. The coat of arms ones look out-dated and not for me, probably aimed at the over 60’s. The open book one was just awful.

The AU badge from the 40s-50s is actually really nice, though not really possible now due to the name change.

Agreed. It's classy.
Could potentially be an out of left field move to bring it back...

The current badge just looks like it was designed by a committee who had won a contrtact to design a logo for a start up security firm. Based in Buckden. At least have a badge that has a bit of character. This one definitely doesn't. EDIT: The more I look at the FOOTBALL READING A BOOK one the more I realise how awful it was...but in a funny way.

It’s good to be talking about changing badges and not managers after the last game of the season.

The AU crest is something I'd like to see adapted. The shape of it at least, with a more up to date design inside. A moose head with the CU retained in the middle and United in Endeavour in a banner underneath.

Don't think I'd want moose iconography anywhere near our crest.

The club badge could be so much better - a C and a U with a random set of turrets on top of a 70s football is all a bit tinpot. Today I learnt that the pointy bit on the top of the badge is supposed to be a castle and not an old-school stopwatch.

It’s a quandary - is it a castle in Cambridge that no longer exists or a mechanical stopwatch long since replaced by digital timing.
The new logo should be a ball looking at a tablet (for the MK Dons score update).

I couldn't agree more as I detest our current badge more than I can articulate. Apart from potentially referencing more than one other club the letters "CU" define pretty much nothing about the club or the city we represent. I grew up with the book/ball badge but prefer the one before that. Something along those lines but with the UIE incorporated would be a good starting point.
