I liked the traditional coat of arms badge we sported previously. Not saying go back to that, but something that reflects our history. I like coat of arms badge, but as the town has done f*ck all for our club would not want to go back to it. Not sure what Mick George's problem is. They sponsor posh so are used to be associated with sh!t, surely our club badge isn't as bad as that. Not sure if you are aware but providing it's agreed, the Mick George group will be purchased by Hanson this year. Now, whether the name (MG) disappears I have no idea.

Can't believe it's 10 years and 2 days since I posted this...where did that go?! Playing before bedtime... (The arcing of Cambridge United isn't right I know, and there are a few other things I wish I had the energy to spend more time on but...)

I liked the traditional coat of arms badge we sported previously. Not saying go back to that, but something that reflects our history. I like coat of arms badge, but as the town has done f*ck all for our club would not want to go back to it. I agree with that sentiment but conversely if the city is seen as a good brand and a link to that might help sponsorship it would seem a bit pointless to cut of our noses because the city hasnt helped the club. But if there is no added benefit in the Cambridge association then I dont see any reason to change the badge. The more I look at our badge the more I like it, its fairly bold, easy to see and read and says who we are, which then raises concerns that if we change the badge because of sponsorship then what do the sponsors want on the badge. Do they want their own logo included, do they want the university logo included because for many its the Emblem of Cambridge? I like the Cambridge University logo, with its historical emblem that isnt too detailed, but just what relevance does that have to the football club. Alternatively, if it was something from the Cambridge City coat of arms, for me there's nothing on that that I particularly like, and is too detailed, and with the seahorses, roses and ships it doesn't shout Cambridge to me.

Could perhaps flank/include a couple of Parker's Piece trees to acknowledge just how goddamn HISTORIC Cambridge is when it comes to association football.

Would I be right in thinking your design is based in part on that centenary badge we had on the away shirts in 2012/13? I have always liked that badge and shirt, though burrda could and should've done a better job.

Speaking of badges etc, we know Umbro are making the kit but any inkling when we might find out the new shirt sponsor or get a sneak peak at the new kits?
Can’t remember how long after the season they tend to show us.

I really can't remember what the thinking was but I don't think so. I just knew I'd done something but thought it was 3-4 years ago! Looking at the thread it was about us not using Burrda the following season, and then someone (inevitably) mentioning the badge and whether we could have a new one with the new supplier.

Our current badge is wank, but I love it. I always feel a huge swell of pride whenever I see it on a big screen alongside the Arsenal badge, or Newcastle, o'r lit up outside Wembley when we've just done the non league double.
That said, I'd welcome a change, as long as it's not a nondescript ultramodern effort that'll date within a decade. Something that contains nods to our past and present.

I think the current badge is wank and looks proper tinpot.
The badge we had on the sexy white kit was exactly the badge we need. If the choice though is a Circular badge with a moose on it e.g. Brentford, Stevenage, Bristol City etc. Then it's not worth moving for, our badge is crap but i'd rather a crap original badge then the same badge as everyone else

I'd happily have the book & football badge back with United in Endeavour on it.

You can count on one hand the updated crests that are better than the old one. Even with our loveably rubbish low bar, I'd still be doubtful we'd join such an exclusive club. FOOTBALL READING A BOOK. A superb badge: combined piss-taking, the 'stop in the tracks' look and a slight nod to geographical reality. Loved it.
