Pretty certain this frees up Dunk to now be an out and out striker. Great move given his goal mouth prowess at the end of last season.

"As others have said didn't think LB was a priority position but guess is that Haunstraup is on his way permanently or on loan"
It would have been for me, I think. While we didn't specifically need a left back in the way we do other positions it was an area I felt we needed to be better in. It seemed like Haunstrup was rarely an option even when fit and this signing appears to confirm that.
If that's the case then I'm quite glad to see Bonner continue to make the brutal decisions....they may turn out to be wrong of course, but at least it feels like we're being brave and trying to progress.

I think you’re all forgetting the master plan of playing Dunk at centre half v FGR.

Interviewer asked "looking forward to joining for pre season next week?" - isn't that today? If so, club did well to keep this underwraps over the weekend. Hopefully another confirmed later on with some training pics teasers? (again if pre season starts today)

Very good signing that. Covers us well centrally and at LB.

Looks like that was filmed last week.
If that's a straight swap for Haundstrup who we haven't seem much of at all and IF we can move him on it's a no brainer.
13 goal contributions from left back in the 20/21 season is not too shabby.

A fantastic signing but an odd one, I'm sure by the end of the window the master plan will be in place and it won't even be questioned. But whilst we have 1 striker and 2 left backs signing another left back is odd Yeah a little odd if the window shut today. Plenty of time to get the one's we want and I'm sure we have plenty of offers in on players.

Seems like a decent signing. Averages 33 games a season across a 15 season long career, so has tons of experience. Lot of that is at League 1 too. Compare that to Haunstrup who barely averages 14 games a season!
I guess time will tell what this means for Haunstrup.

Has everyone already forgotten how many times we ended up short last season in terms of player availability? We had extended periods of only 2 fit central options, and ended up needing to play Brophy at LB (and then Williams, when Brophy got injured).
Andrew has played a lot of the past few years at CB, so he offers good cover in 2 positions, while Dunk, Haunstrup and Brophy can all play anywhere on the left flank.
For what it's worth, I suspect we'll end up moving Haunstrup on, either permanently on loan, but if we don't, having 4 players covering two positions on the left-hand side is no bad thing.

PLeasantly surprised by this one, I think a really good addition and crucially an understanding being shown by the club that what we had in the squad at the start of last season simply wasn't good enough to compete at L1 level. As such, to have Stevens and Andrew in with a lot of L1 games under their belts strikes me as a very positive upgrade and also a statement of intent that we have learned from last year.
I've always liked Danny Andrew as a player, so I'm really pleased he'll be wearing the shirt again. As others have said, probably the end for Haunstrup.

Very happy with this signing, should give us plenty of experience, and a set piece specialist at last. Always thought he would be a good fit with us so can’t wait to see him play.

Seems like a good signing and maybe paves the way for some inexperienced loans further up the pitch.
I wonder if he's a LB who can play CB or genuinely is a decent CB - what does that mean for us playing 5 or 4 at the back?
Presumably doesn't fit a LWB role, but a more mobile CB in a back 5 could be feasible.
Lot's of permutations to go through, welcome Andrew!

He's a genuinely decent CB and spent most of the 2 seasons before last playing there, but it sounds very much like we've signed him to play LB.
I expect we'll see 3 at the back next season but no more than a handful of times at most.

It seems weird that there's seemingly be no official acknowledgement that he has been here before?
Or has the Jez era be expunged from the records.

Gone the way of Holroyd's hattrick.
He was asked about it in the interview so clearly the media guy's at least aware. It was an underwhelming 1-month loan 11 years ago though so I'm not really sure it's worth dwelling on. How many appearances did he even make? I remember at least 2.
