I thought it might be useful and easier to have a separate thread about other games in our division. Looking at yesterday's results a couple of things stand out:
-Of the promoted teams, Stevenage won at Northampton while Carlisle drew at home to our opponents next Saturday, Fleetwood Town; Leyton Orient and Northampton both lost
-I don't know if I'm more surprised that Derby lost or that Wigan won in The Ram's 1-2 defeat at Pride Park; perhaps Wigan are in a better place than many thought and Derby aren't?
-Portsmouth are mentioned by quite a few pundits as play off/promotion contenders but only scraped a 1-1 draw at home to Bristol Rovers in the 90+2 minute
-That lot in the north managed a 1-0 away win at troubled Reading
-All is obviously not well at Wycombe, losing 0-3 at home to Exeter; as many have said, Ainsworth will probably end up there once he's shown the door at QPR
-Barnsley's hammering of Port Vale probably doesn't need much comment
-This may well be Bolton's season to challenge for promotion after an impressive 3-0 win against Lincoln.
Oh, and we're currently 5th in League One.

Carlisle and...Stevenage. Though they were playing another of the promoted sides so perhaps doesn't count.
I'm not sure about Bloomfield at Wycombe. He's there mainly because he's a club legend I think and not for any potential he showed at Colchester. I think they're a decent side with a poor manager so I suspect they'll struggle until they sack him.
Barnsley surprised me. They've lost their manager and a few key players, I definitely wasn't expecting a 7-0.
Lincoln are one some are predicting to struggle, I get the impression they're one of those clubs living on the edge of one bad season being catastrophic financially.

Thanks Andrew - now corrected. I have a blind spot when it comes to Stevenage!

Dreadful result for Wycombe, but they have been fairly slow starters in general for quite a while. That said, I'm thoroughly unconvinced by Bloomfield.
I think Exeter may well surprise a few people this season. He's a jebend but Caldwell knows what he's doing & as a club they generally recruit smartly.
Good day for us all in all, with almost all of the teams you'd expect to be in the bottom half with us losing. Long may it continue.

Andrew I some respects Lincoln scored better than us for that governance award. They are pulling in large crowds and are more "inclusive" by some measure not explained.

Wycombe with another heavy defeat then. Bloomfield isn't going to last long at all is he?. I can see them being the sort of side to go for Danny Cowley and the other one (Barry maybe? I could be thinking of the chuckle brothers mind).
Nice to see Burton getting stuffed 3-0 too. I don't like Maamria. I think he's a good fire fighter for a struggling club but he's not a squad builder. Harsh as it sounds I think they were better off getting rid of him and starting again in the summer 🤷♂️.
I'm less sure Orient will be garbage given their start has been harder on paper, being pointless from Charlton and Portsmouth isn't entirely unexpected I'd say. Orient and Wycombe play each other on Tuesday and I'd fully expect the loser to be bottom at the end of it.
Only four teams with a 100% record...roll on Tuesday and let's do our bit to make it three.

"Only four teams with a 100% record..."
Actually, it's five - Wigan have also won both games.

Andrew Orient have a crippling injury list at the moment which is why they have had a tough start. Likely to be the same when we play them as far as I can tell…..which is nice.

He's the sort of manager who can come in & make a difference, but I'd have absolutely zero faith that his methods can turn around a bad run of form when he's the one that's presided over it. I'd be very surprised if he ends the season as their manager still. They've not scored a goal yet this season.

Still have fond memories of his Burton team from the last day of last season. I'm sure that will fade. But for now the fondness will remain.

Early days of course but the I wonder how the season is going to shape up for the 3 teams that have so far registered 3 losses (Cheltenham, Burton. Leyton Orient)? Orient seem to be genuinely struggling with League One life and injuries haven't helped; I had Cheltenham tipped for relegation and nothing has changed that view; and Burton will be interesting. If I'm remembering correctly, they had an absolutely awful start to last season and looked absolutely doomed before going on an absurdly successful run and securing safety fairly early.
It's nice looking at the bottom of the table.
