I don't mind punishing the club per se I just think they should be going after the owner as well and maybe assisting Reading to get him out. Too many club owners/chairmen seem to get away with it while the fans and community suffer and are left to pick up the pieces.

I still can’t believe knibbs and smith signed for reading It does make you wonder what other options they both had particularly Smith who’d been there before. Maybe they offered the best ££. Could yet all go badly wrong for them both. Perhaps Kyle Knoyle esq and they end up in league 2 after all.

Difficult to say really, given how early it is and given how little we actually know about their situations. It's not totally beyond the realms of possibility that 8 months' pay there works out on par, perhaps even better, than 12 months with us. We simply don't know really.
Any move comes with an element of risk – signing for Reading this summer more than most. Given it was clearly one made on both their parts with an eye on the mid-to-long rather than short term (it'd have to be, given the state of the club), it's too early to say it was a bad or the wrong one though. Could look very sage in a year's time; could look totally disastrous. Many ways it can go from here, not all of them bad.

Fair and, perhaps, generous EG.
One might suspect that The Knibbler and Smiffy both thought they were more fancied than they actually were.

Me thinks so to know one came in for them any better than reading only option at this level so had to take it especially when a basket case club offers you a crazy three year deal.

I know the Scrappy Survivors of 22/23 will never have the kudos of the Lockdown Legends of 20/21 but both made a huge contribution in ensuring we're playing in League One this season. I hope their club situation is satisfactorily resolved for them, personally and professionally.

I still can’t believe knibbs and smith signed for reading Probably got a silly offer based on the never never and an agent encouraged them to accept because he did best out of it. Terrible footballing move I suspect.

The Reading FC situation is far more complex than Dai Yongge being a dilettante owner. he has reputedly put in over 200 million GBP to Reading FC. His major issue, but not his only one, is that it is now very difficult for Chinese citizens to move their money out of China due to the Chinese government changing rules. That is not to say he wants to do it, just that he can't. This 3pt deduction is indeed the suspended deduction from 16th August. for a failure to deposit 125% of the monthly wage into a designated account. As I predicted over a month ago expect there to be further deductions soon for failure to pay wages on time. The season ticket money is running out quickly. Reading FC is nailed on for one of the relegation spots.
unless that is there is a change of ownership before the end of the year.

Cheltenham still without a goal after 7 games is quite something.
Good to see Fleetwood battered. You'd want a much closer game under a new manager if you were going to have any hope for them until the window.
Those two and Burtons look increasingly likely to get cut off to me. It's a pretty open and competitive league apart from that, it's really looking like the two leagues in one thing isn't so much of a factor this season.

Yes, Cheltenham’s goalless start is quite something and agree with you about Fleetwood. The only thing I’d say about Burton is that didn’t they have an absolutely awful start to last season and looked pretty doomed until they went on quite a run to secure safety. I’ve also still got a bit of a soft spot for them because of last season’s final day….though I’m sure that will soon fade!

I have no soft spot for them. If they wanted to do us a favour, as the narrative suggests, then they wouldn't have beaten us the game before our survival was assured. Our staying up had little to do with them and everything to do with being better than four other teams over 46 games 👍.
That said, I imagine Burtons will blink soon and sack their manager. It worked for them last season so I guess we'll see if it does again this year.
Not sure how much longer Wade Elliott will last at Cheltenham either.

I've been looking first at the bottom teams' results - the quicker and further teams can be cut adrift the better.

Seven games without a goal must soon be approaching some kinda EFL record? If you believe Wikipedia the record is 11 shared between Coventry City in 1919/20 and Hartlepool United in 1992/93.
