The one's to me are the PO Finals against Exeter & Torquay. What if we had gone up under Quinn or Brabin with the likes of George Rolls on the board? Would we have gone back down after splashing the cash and even be here now? I know it was crap down there but better to have come back up in the long run under Richard Money and the then board. I mentioned this in the ‘not so greatest moments’ thread a while back. Painful as those days and the additional time in non-league were, I’m confident that given what we later learned about the way George Rolls was running the club and risks taken, promotion would likely have seen that approach doubled down on and we could easily have ended up like York, Torquay, Macc etc. Obviously I’m not saying I’m glad we lost those finals, but I do think with the benefit of hindsight, things panned out for the best.

Jeez George wasn't apparently. Talk at the time certainly seemed to be centred on Jez wanting the Cowleys, so, what if we appoint Danny Cowley instead of Shaun Derry in the Autumn of 2015?

What if Tranmere goalkeeper Joe Murphy hadn't sacrificed his life to save Lionel's penalty in the dying minutes of our final game of the 2001-02 season. The total destruction of the NRE might have otherwise finished the club, not to mention the tragic loss of several hundred fans behind the goal. Ha... was thinking about putting this one in myself, although couldn't think of a way of really calling it a Sliding Doors moment (well done on that )... There are a couple of occasions which I particularly look back on and think the Footballing Gods could have let a little more magic grace the moment... just for the romance of it sort of thing...They wouldn't have changed anything much overall, clearly not Sliding Doors moments, but would have been bloody marvellous to witness and to share with fellow U's. The above is one. Although Lionel coming up for the penalty was great in itself and then managing to crock the 'keeper was some form of compensation for the save... if he'd scored! I'd probably still be celebrating! The other is Elliott hitting the post at Old Trafford. If that had gone in and we'd have led MU at their place, no matter how briefly, well, I'd have enjoyed that an awful lot. I'm probably just being greedy. It's not as if we've not had plenty of magic moments as it is.

I should probably know this!

The only one I recall is Dimi in a penalty shootout last year.
Scott Barrett scored for Colchester once.

What if Rimpson hadn't scored the winner against Aldershot in our first season out of the league.
Regional football and probably the end of the club, at least as we know it, would have been a real possibility.

Even if it had, I'd still have assumed we were going to lose, but what a moment it would have been.

Some Superb posts on here Thinking years back to Grimsby away when a Mighty U's fan had flown back from the Med, travelling for hours becoming really hot and sweaty and yelling out "Don't come near me, I smell like a Moose" ! Antler signs were made and the chant"Moose" was repeated and our "Marvin" was born !

If ITV digital hadn’t collapsed in 2002, what would the abbey stadium now look like?
