Corr & Betsy put in interim charge ?
I'm afraid that doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence .

Unsurprising after that gutless performance last night - clearly lost the dressing room. They're incredibly large and usually stationary, I would be surprised if he couldn't find it. Tis true. I found my way into ours after we beat Bristol City 5-1 and I was really drunk. But massive thanks to LOCKDOWN LEGEND Bonz. Three and a half years is a lifetime in football and I don’t know what some people expect from Cambridge United. The club and Mark have both acted creditably during that period. Sadly it probably was time I really hope he’s a success elsewhere

Absolutely gutted, especially for Mark who is a United hero. Didn't expect it, but just felt in the last couple of interviews Mark just started to look a bit lost. It's a sad day and although it's probably right I'm devastated for him.

We won't have another manager like him. Someone who was so ingrained in the fabric of the club Knew everybody through his own journey to head coach and also because of his personal investment.
3 seasons, each with their own key memory (promotion, Newcastle, great escape). All top 5 or top 10 moments for a lot of our fanbase.

I thunk it’s the right call but it’s still an incredibly sad day for us. I love what he did for our football club in his first 18 months to two years with us, he’ll go down as one of the finest managers we’ve had. And he’s done it with a fantastic attitude and dignity. I really hope he goes on to further success wherever he goes and I hope he returns to manage us again a few years down the line.

Holy (Coldham`s Common) Cow !! .....I clicked on to have a moan on the Lincoln thread about things and certainly wasn`t expecting that !
I believe for the good of the club it`s the right decision....something none of us would have believed after that dramatic last day escape and those fantastic scenes on the pitch and his passionate speech once the pitch was finally cleared.
I left last night like many in a bit of a daze, with everyone muttering that his time was up....People were respective in thought and comment,(nothing toxic as such when we all wanted that twit Derry out !) but walking across Newmarket Road and towards my car it really felt like the bubble had finally burst.
Wishing Bonz every success in the future, thanks for those wonderful memories along the way ! I`m sure he`s learnt so much over the past 3 years and hopefully a bit more in the past 3 awful months.
Hmmm Betsy and Corr for a bit of time......tell you what guys go to a solid 4-4-2 and if we`re chasing a game in the 84th minute FFS keep at least one on the bloomin` Half Way Line !! Not Rocket Science is it !!
To be honest I`d have Luke Chadwick in as an Interim manager until an appointment is confirmed.....and yes I`d take Gareth Ainsworth tomorrow on a max 2 year deal, at least he knows the club.

Brilliant news. Now let’s get a proper manager. This 'proper manager' not only gave us several miracles, as has been eloquently pointed out elsewhere, but painted the training ground dressing rooms over the lockdown summer, distributed food to needy local people & regularly phoned *every* staff member, no matter how anonymous, to check their well-being.
This might be the right decision - the body language of the players as they stood waiting for the second half signalled that the jig was up - but it's inevitably also a tragedy.
Thanks for everything, Mark. You unfailingly conducted yourself with dignity & filled our lives with ecstasy in a time of otherwise unparralleled bleakness. You're a true U. We love you.

Chadwick has no interest in being a manager.
This obsession with bringing in ex-players with no or barely any managerial experience (or even interest) is laughable. Who's going to be the first to suggest getting Shaggy back?

I can't imagine how shite it must have been to watch football during Covid if your team was garbage. I thoroughly loved lockdown, but a huge part of that was that absolutely fantastic team.

I said on here yesterday that he might go in mid December so quite surprised it’s happened so fast but in the football world, I shouldn’t really be shocked
Many thanks Mark for what you brought to our club & you will always be part of the Lockdown Legends. Wishing you a successful career in whatever path you end up on

As with most people on this board today I'm just incredibly sad. Very few clubs will ever have a manager who is as ingrained into its fabric as Mark was - and it was visible in his every action.
Unfortunately, in this visceral day and age this was almost certainly going to be the eventual outcome at some point. No manager (that I can recall) genuinely leaves on their own terms.
I really hope that we can welcome Mark back to the Abbey very soon: he's a true CUFC fan, first and foremost. Who knows, if he goes off and gains more experience elsewhere he might come back? Let's face it that lot up the road has re-employed that idiot what 3? 4? times and he's not even a fraction of the human being that Mark is.
So let's hope this is au revoir Mark, and not adieu. Thank you all the memories and hopefully, there will be some more in the future.

Promotion to league 1, Newcastle away and the last game of last season. What fantastic memories. Thanks Mark Bonner and good luck with your next appointment. Cambridge United owes you a huge debt,
