Before we appointed Bonner, we were rumoured to be interested in a youth coach at Brighton. I was just curious if anyone recalled his name to see if he did become a manager anywhere? Simon Rusk. He's now England U19 manager. Bit of a tough cookie?

I'm just throwing an ex Brighton youth coach name out there. No idea. PS Could/should we get Simon Rusk? No experience in first team management, but clearly mint at coaching. Born in purgatory. While Paul Wild would be a solid choice he would need a buy out on a two/three year contract. I said that the problem with sacking MB would be finding a decent replacement to manage here. I hope we get lucky.

I'm excited about the guy who hopefully can get a talented bunch playing again and bring out their potential. There's a decent side lurking in there. Sad to see Mark go, very, but he had to go - top man, top human being - but I guess we still have to tolerate the deluded lot of infatuated fanboys still on here who thought as a coach he was a footballing messiah and we'd be ok. He wasnt and hopefully we will now have a better chance of being ok. Full backing to who comes in. Always back the club, my club and your club. I'll say it again, Paul Barry is Mr Cambridge United, massive yet tough and totally correct decision taken while we still have a chance.

What’s the obsession with Pete Wild on here out of interest? There isn't one, but he's a manager with an impressive track record that's done well getting teams punching above their weight at the two levels below, & fits the bill of young, up & coming coach who has probably earned a shot at a step up. Don't know enough about him to say if he might be the right fit for us or not, but it feels plausible that he'd be interested. He'll be on some radars & get a chance in this division sooner rather than later I suspect.

What’s the obsession with Pete Wild on here out of interest? Great track record (check out those win percentages). Willing to manage at L2 even. lionel , your picture of cabbages is broken. #BonnerIn

I guess we still have to tolerate the deluded lot of infatuated fanboys still on here who thought as a coach he was a footballing messiah and we'd be ok. Is there any need for this stuff? It just feels weirdly triumphalist and needlessly divisive. Being desperate for things to work out for Bonner at the club is hardly crime of the century. Also, ‘infatuated fanboys’? I guess you’re only shocked and appalled by gendered insults when it suits you. I suppose it’s a day for surprises…

All the best to Mark Bonner, Cambridge through and through, and who will hopefully one day return in some capacity at the Abbey. A shoe in for the hall of fame. A brave but sadly correct decision by the board imo.
Just been speaking with a friend of mine who supports Millwall but lives near Wycombe. He spoke highly of both Neil Harris and Gary Rowett, neither of which he felt should have been sacked at the new Den. He strongly advised resisting Gareth Ainsworth. Nice that all 3 have a Cambridge connection.
