Perhaps he thinks politics should be kept out of sport? Most people who think that only want the politics they don't like kept out of football. Ah, the good old fall back ‘most people.’ You’re obviously an expert on most people’s like and dislikes.

If we are going to stand any chance of staying up it’s only going to come from Taylor and adhadme

There are some seriously self righteous pr*cks on this forum.
What Lyle Taylor or any other player thinks about COVID vaccines or other similar political views is completely irrelevant to their ability as a football. Their job is to score goals. I don't care if they take the knee or not. It's not a topic with a right or wrong answer, it's a topic on which people can form their own opinions, differing opinions, without it being a stain on their character.
What next? Are people going to start saying they don't want players at our club if they voted Tory / Labour / Lib Dem [Delete as appropriate]?
Jokers.

If a footballer in the public eye is theatrically controversial via social media, is he not begging such attention for his opinions? Otherwise, he'd simply get on with pursuing his beliefs in private, no?
If Taylor gave 100% on the pitch, I'd be quite content. But he doesn't. And we're in the deepest trouble--admittedly not only because of him.
Do you know what Liam Bennett thinks about Lib Dem plans for the banking sector? Good. Me, neither.

Excuse the catharsis but felt like writing a few thoughts on here in lieu of seeing a psychiatrist...
I don't get to many away games anymore (or that many home ones either, come to think of it).
I did, however, manage to find the time to get to Cheltenham away a couple of years ago, the one we won 5-0 on a Tuesday. The reason I mention this now is less the result, amazing though it was, and more about Bonner's post match interview.
"I love this team"
He could barely conceal his grin. I found myself beaming at my phone and agreeing with him. I have always known I'd loved the *club* and I think I've "loved" certain players before but for the first time I felt a genuine affinity with the whole team. I wanted to get to more games. I desperately wanted us to do well, as much for those that actually made it happen as for us observers.
I have found myself returning to this phrase in the last few months. I didn't agree with Bonner's departure but I understand why the decision was made and accepted that I was probably wrong.
The rodent-faced successor has been and gone - scuttling back to his South London Den with not so much as a half-arsed apology in his wake; Taylor, Bonne and Gibbons the only evidence of his presence. We were excellent against Shrewsbury and Carlisle but I loved the results for what they meant for our League 1 status rather than anything else.
I don't love this team, the truth is I don't really recognize it - on Saturday evening I positively resented it. I couldn't articulate what sort of identity or even redeeming traits we have. Are we organized? Creative? Resilient? I don't think we are any of those things.
Monk has a good CV, and is *probably* a good coach. He frequently asks Doug if he knows what he means when answering questions. I'm not sure Doug does. I'm not sure I do. I hope the players do.
9 games to go, then. This relegation reality that we are all in, scarcely believable 6 months ago, is one we must confront. Will we "bite and scratch and fight" our way out of the black hole we are currently in? As much as it doesn't feel like it, we will win again.
Regardless of where we find ourselves next season, we have to start building a "team" again, not an assortment of late-stage opportunists with Mercedes GLA payments that they need to keep up on.
Monk,if he's still here (I think he will be), should recognise this.

So, after time to reflect...
I dont like the way Stevens & Andrew have become the target for so much abuse online (FB) after this game. Stevens for me has been a decent keeper overall, some good saves, some mistakes but all keepers mess up and that normally costs a goal.
I didnt see the 2 goals as mistakes, just should have done better, although the 2ns was a 1 on 1 so its also thge striker doing their job too. He does look a bit shot on confidence, assume he was hooked as he took a knock?
Andrew has been a good player over last 2-3 months, but some just will never accept him and they will never accept him even if he scores 2 goals a game. Sure, his perfomance was not good but whose was. He got cirticised for being out of position for 2nd, by my son, but soon after Liam was caught in the same way, only difference was they didnt score.
For me the worrying think is Monk - sure he has only been in the job a couple of weeks but he looks out of his depth. Northampton 2nd half was awful, then you have a 10-0 over 2 games. No manager bounce and no motivation.
Tactically all over the place, picks basically the same team as Lincoln. That said, they beat Barnsely 5-1 away, then Rovers 5-0 at home so they are a good side. Stevens does better, we take the chance early in 2nd half and it could be 1-1, 2,1 or even 0-1 and who knows.
1) Why bring Hoddle back to not even get on bench 2) Why drop Jack who is our most creative 3) Why pump balls up to Taylor, not his game and when he did win header there was no-one there 4) Kachunga was hopeless I thought 5) I love RB but think we need to see pace at the back
Cousins was hopeless 1st half and Digby playing an attacking role??? But in 2nd Cousins actually looked ok playing more advanced and did some good stuff.

Despite everything it is still in our own hands (Just) This break is going to be so crucial for many teams, none more so than us. Monk must use it to really get to know the squad. You don’t just lose games the way we’ve lost these last 2. There is reasons for it and they need to be rectified, acted on and simply must not happen again. If the players have issues then they must air them, we’ve supposedly got a leadership group, they should let their feelings be known and if that involves calling out a certain player for being a bad Apple then so be it. Taylor pre Bolton to the Taylor we are seeing now is a million miles away. I have heard whispers that he wasn’t exactly popular after that Bolton incident and he was the one who insisted on an appeal. Morrison also mentioned in a recent pre match presser that Taylor “probably owes us one” if he’s causing friction then get rid. It will be more than just one problem, but if we’re to survive this then a happy and together dressing room is an absolute must. Something just isn’t right. Monk is obviously way short right now, but it’s more than just him. As it stands, the 23rd of April is looking huge. We take on Wycombe, Cheltenham meet Pish. Obviously lots can and will happen before then, but it’s looking like a crucial evening right now. Hmmmmm. I've been wondering about Taylor. Was probably alright when Harris was here (in fact I myself lauded his interview after Shrewsbury away + 'Evans controls another Evans') but if we don't have the strength to tell him the appeal is pointless or that he must wear a 'Her Game Too' t shirt before a match then there is something badly wrong with the dynamics. Refusal to wear the t shirt because of his 'principles' really is so tragically immature. Just suck it up for appearance's sake man (and because your employer has requested it).Its refreshing for someone not to be a sheep. Its like charity days or the like, let people choose what and how to support things. Taking the knee was a token box ticking gesture. Far more effective ways to get that across

Seems pretty effective.

The point is, it doesn't matter whether it was effective or wasn't.
Personally, I thought taking the knee was simply a solidarity statement with the anti-racism movement, so I would happily do it. And I trust the NHS when they say I would be better off having a vaccine than not. But they're just my opinions, and the only person whose actions should be driven by my opinions, is me.
If we have a player who doesn't want to take the knee or who doesn't want to get vaccinated, then they shouldn't have to. We live (lived?) in a free society where people have the right to make these choices for themselves.
If they have to wear a certain item of clothing as part of their contract, then that's different - they had the right to say no when they were choosing whether to sign on or not. But where a player is not contractually bound to act in a certain way, they should have that choice.
I recall a lad playing for another EFL club... I think he was Irish(?), I'm sure Google will fill in the blanks... refusing to wear the poppy. He got pelters for it. Personally, I think it means he's misunderstood what the poppy represents, but the bottom line is that it's his choice and he should be allowed to get on with it.
All I care about with Taylor is his ability to be a good player and make the team better, for a cost the club can afford.
