So, now there's no concern about the England strip I wonder how this fits with the outrage about proposals to change the U's badge?

Why? I'm only posing the question.

Why? I'm only posing the question. Because it's not even close to being a like-for-like comparison...

Why? I'm only posing the question. One is a tiny pattern design that makes a small part of a shirt, being jumped on by politicians and the media so they can start the latest culture war to distract from the actual serious issues this country faces. The other has been the club's badge and main emblem for nearly 40 years. And has raised genuine and reasonable concern by supporters, first on whether it's necessary and whether it'll actually change anything, secondly whether it's proposed replacement will actually be any better, and thirdly whether the club will push through such a change if the new design proves unpopular. It shouldn't have to be said but Nike and the FA aren't seriously going to change the national flag for good. Any comparisons are just daft.

Regardless of what I think about any change to uniteds badge, the change of the flag on an international teams shirt is absurd. If ever you wanted to give fuel to the (usually ridiculous) idea that there's some 'woke' ideology taking over the country it's this. fa cking idiots not helping the balanced amongst us keep the calm

It certainly does seem very political, with both sides claiming their interest. Where were they in 2011 when Umbro added a variety of different coloured St George’s crosses on the shoulders of the England shirt, oh yes there wasn’t an election later that year. I’m not keen on changing the colour of the cross on the flag, but it’s not on the front and we have had many shirts without the cross, just the three lions so it’s not a big deal, and at least this single cross on the back of the shirt collar is better than the multiple multicoloured crosses on the 2011 version.

This really, really has no interest to me. They don't want to change the flag. It's a tiny design on the collar of a football shirt.
One week with no games and this becomes huge news!!

Looking at Lyle Taylor's Instagram story, it looks like he played for Montserrat yesterday. But googling their fixtures it looks like he's been called up when they don't have a proper game until June and only played a friendly yesterday against a team called Club Costa City, a youth team founded by Atletico's (ex-Chelsea) Saul Niguez and Nike only four years ago. Quite what LT is doing with Monserrat is very hard to track down, I saw a report that they had 2 matches with Antigua but where and when it didn't say. What Sullay Kai Kai is doing with Sierra Leone is equally opaque. I have drawn a complete blank on that one. Which begs the question shouldn't those 2 and to a slightly lesser degree Bonne & Okedina be working hard in Cambridge not going off on a glorified holiday to the Caribbean and Africa. given the situation CU are in?

No they shouldn't. They've been chosen to represent those countries. Which is what they're doing, regardless of the strength of opposition or type of game they're playing in.

Given that Danny Andrew, James Brophy & Jack Lankester where playing in a golf tournament on Wednesday (as were Liam O'Neil & Josh Coulson FWIW) doesn't seem like much hard work has been going on this week!

If you had bothered to read and answer the first part of my post and enlightening me on quite what those 2 are doing then I would know. Playing a friendly/warmup match is one thing. Playing against a youth team is quite another, and on the face of it doesn't seem to be a good reason to miss 2 weeks training.

So, now there's no concern about the England strip I wonder how this fits with the outrage about proposals to change the U's badge? Nike is so smart as a company. People have got so lost in pretending to be outraged by the colour of the cross to push their own ridiculous narrarive: they have failed to realise what the actual scandal is! For what is basically a white shirt with the three lions crest the cost is £129.00! It is an example of misdirection at its finest. Surely the politicians should be more concerned about the inflated price of the shirt in a cost of living crisis!

These ridiculously inflated prices will continue while people are willing to pay that much for them.
