Much better second half and a few positives to take from it. I think Blackpool showed up a few players in the first 45. One or two are really not suited to our current formation and it’s something that Monk may look at for the next few games.
Rossi looked composed and comfortable, which was encouraging. Felt Jobe had a few iffy moments today, but was fine overall. Gibbons was the biggest disappointment, struggled defensively and his decision making (along with Brophy) was poor when attacking.
Impressed with May when he came on. I think the current system would really suit him and he offers us something different to Digby, who gave his all but is very limited in what he does. Cousins was better second half, but not as good as the previous 2 games.
Disappointed that Lankester didn’t get longer, although Bonne created the chance for Kachunga so can’t complain too much about the subs used.
Charlton winning today might make next Saturday a little easier. I felt our need to win more than the opponents really showed against Wigan, but they do have some real quality so we’ll have to play equally as well.

Think the subs today were definitely done to allow Monk to look at a few players and I wouldn't be surprised if he makes some changes for Charlton.
I think Rossi could come in and play in that 3rd CB place with Andrew at wing back, Gibbons has been far better in that left wingback role than I thought, but it's not his natural position and he wasn't great today.
If Cousins can keep his performance levels at where they've been these last 3 games I'd feel more confident with him having someone else alongside him, probably May or Lankester to create a few more chances down the middle.

Better second half but far too negative first half. Feel if Monk had been more positive and made changes earlier we may have got a point. Brophy & Kaikai not at their best today and surprised Gibbons lasted the 90. Rossi looked composed when he came on and Cousins was better again today. At least we put in a shift today and can’t fault the effort rather than like at Reading. If Kachunga takes that chance it’s a good away point. Results have gone our way though so probably need 4 more to be there which would be good to get from the next 2 games. Blackpool is an absolute dump and worse than I remember. I’m sure parts of Chernobyl are more Habitable!

Both sides really struggled with the wind behind them which contributed to a real game of two halves. Don't think we tried to sit so deep in the first half but couldn't get the ball to stick anywhere. Kaikai really gave Bennett a tough afternoon by not helping out, he was neither out wide nor close enough to Gassan.

Could have snatched something there against a capable but nervous side. 3 more will do it i suspect.

Barnsley was an away performance where everyone seemed to play to their maximum. Felt today that none of the players quite played as well as they could have. Nothing seemed to quite come off and we made the wrong choice on too many occasions. Blackpool deserve some credit for that, they knew exactly what to expect and dealt with our threats pretty well, whilst exploiting the weaknesses, especially in the first half. Showed enough to convince me we will be fine, but also certain positions/areas that we must strengthen in the summer.

That’s levelling up for you. Lived in the North for +35 years & it’s just been left behind & forgotten about. The biggest magic trick of them all, they all voted Blue in the last election. to get some funds up here 🤔

Defensively I think this last 2 games have showed what opposition teams are trying to do against us. They are targeting that right hand side “triangle” of Jobe, lennett and kaikai. Today their centre forward was pulling on to jobe for long diagonals and he was having a load of joy in getting knockdowns around him and lennett. Kaikai wasn’t doing anywhere near enough work in front of lennett to stop runners and his tracking and screening was awful today. Hence they got behind our right hand side or were able to able to play around them on more than one occasion and cause us problems. Contrast this to the work of Brophy on the other side, it may go unnoticed, but I think his workrate is excellent and I think the defensive movement of him, Andrew and gibbons stopped a lot of stuff going down their side because they were screening the space well or getting tighter when they could. I think as a whole we were too defensive first half, probably paying them too much respect and we looked much better when we made the subs and allowed lennett and gibbons to push as high as possible, push their wing backs into their own half and this gave us more space to play in. A draw would have been a fair result today and we were unlucky with the chance that hit the post.

While I would have taken it all day - had Kachunga scored it would have been one of the least deserved assists of all time, 2 on 1 and Bonne picked out the defender perfectly who contrived to give Kach a chance where he still should have scored but a competent ball in the first place and you'd back him there.

We set up for the draw, sat far too deep for most of the game and got absolutely everything that we deserved - nothing
No one played particularly badly, but no one stood out as playing that well.
A frustrating game

Brophy & Kaikai not at their best today and surprised Gibbons lasted the 90. Rossi looked composed when he came on Suspect these 2 things were with Tuesday in mind, when Gibbons is ineligible. Fully expect Rossi to come in alongside Jobe & Bennett, & Andrew to shift to LWB.
