Yeah, I do quite like the tournament being expanded so that the Albania' and Austria's have a greater chance of qualification, but the group stages do lose something as a result. Andrew Don't go classing Austria as a lucky qualifier, They could do quite well despite being in a tough group, and have had some decent results recently, including stopping Sweden from qualify with wins home and away.

The Germany line up is giving our squad a run for its money in the old as f*ck stakes

One thing you could normally always guarantee with Scotland is they’d play with pride and passion, none of that on show tonight. They can’t have any complaints, Definite Penalty and a Red. You can count on one hand the number of times they got out of their own half.

They were lucky they didn’t concede 2 pens as there was 2 separate fouls on Musiala & one of them was in the box
Gonna need more than William Wallace to keep this under 5 tonight now

I was torn about this game. On one hand, I was happy at least one other UK team qualified, and love a plucky underdog, so wanted Scotland to make a decent fist of it. On the other hand, I still haven't forgiven them for Joe Jordan, even though it was before my time, and I always bring out my "but I was born in Germany" card whenever Wales don't qualify. It's a well worn card.

Just looked at the basic stats from last night's game: Scotland had no shots on target, had 2 touches in the Germany penalty box, ran 102km to Germany's 111km and had 193 passes to Germany's 655. I guess Clarke can only hope that Switzerland underperform and Hungary are as bad as when they lost 2-1 to Ireland 10 days ago.
Looks like they're not going to upset their tradition of never getting out of the group stage at an international tournament.

My biggest takeaway from that match was how impressive it was that two teams had been given the same kit template, but one is an instant classic and the other an utter abomination.
But yeah, we didn't really know where Germany were at coming into this and that cleared that up quick enough. Musiala is an absolute joke.

He's German, even if he did have eligibility for England, and I'm fine to not need to go for the more tenuously qualified players even if they are bloody good.
