There is a film on at the Arts all next week that sounds interesting, it's called Project Nim about a Chimpanzee raised as a human child....timed perfectly for Planet of the Apes (which is ace fun). I also saw Super 8 the other day which was very disappointing...the story line was utter garbage. Andrew Agree about super 8 started well before going downhill fast!

Yeah, A Scanner Darkly is ace. Have you seen Waking Life? It's a sort of spiritual successor kinda thing. Not as good. Thanks. Just ordered from Amazon. Sounds like my kinda movie

Enjoy, it's somewhat heavy going at times... Just realised actually that Waking Life came out before A Scanner Darkly

Rec is decent, but not scary in the slightest. Goodbye Lenin is amusing, in the same vein, Die Wolle is an excellent film about political Germany.

I enjoyed [REC], yeah, the sequel is a bit wank though.
Another Spanish film worth checking out is Cell 211...it's about an inmate leading a prison riot, and the guard posing as inmate to survive it.

Let the right one in is a perfect example of why the Yanks shouldn't be allowed to do remakes. I believe their version was shot for shot to the original as well. I've recently watched Spanish horror film Rec www.imdb.com/title/tt1038988/ Starts off like your standard zombie horror (think 28 days) but goes to another level. The ending is pretty horrific, I'm not ashamed to say I was hiding behind the sofa. (I'll lend it you Face) I also finally got round to watching True Grit which I thoroughly enjoyed. You can't really go wrong with the Coen brothers and it didn't disappoint. Even the Mrs enjoyed it. I'm desperate to see The Tree of Life but haven't had the chance to watch it yet. Need to see it on the big screen. So the Cohen bros aren't yanks or True Grit isn't a remake? Perhaps you mean remakes of foreign films? I've yet to see a remake that justified the budget (King Kong!). By any nationality. It doesn't bode well for the Planet of the Apes prequel.

I saw the Planet of the Apes prequel today, and thought it was really good. They left a few loose ends though, so expect another one.

Slightly off topic but carrying on from belly's comment, just wiki'd american remakes and came across this link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_British_TV_shows_remade_for_the_American_marketThieves! Interesting to see that a large majority of those that don't get past the pilot or are cancelled are comedies, probably due to the FACT that most Americans are thick.

I did think about True Grit after writing that actually What has really upset me is that they are re-making the warriors.

Got mugged into watching a horror movie with my daughter last night. "Mirrors 2" Please, please dont fall into the same trap. Clean out the cat tray, ask the missus how her latest shopping trip went, go and watch a Pish game, just dont waste 86 minutes of your life with this film. Please.
