Bumping this just to reiterate an old post. I've just finished watching Ink for the second time and really can't recommend it enough. Such an original film with an outstanding soundtrack that fits each scene perfectly.
From reading reviews, it seems its a film you'll love or hate, but I'm firmly on the side of love. It's weird and moving in equal measure. Basically, see it!!
Oh and the filmmakers champion peer to peer file sharing because without it, it would've been seen by about 3 people. This fact should be enough to make you go download it.

Haven't really watched any films recently, been mostly watching TV series. I did watch 'Warrior' last week, though, with Tom Hardy. If you like the Fighter (which was excellent) then you'll like this.
I want to watch Inception soon as it has Hardy in it. Would people recommend it?

It's well worth a watch. A very good action film with some unique elements. It might suffer and lose some 'epicness' on the small screen though.

Anyone seen District 9? Set in South Africa and based around a spaceship crashing to Earth and the public reaction to the crisis. It's shot in a documentary style and deals a lot with the interplanetary racism that evolves over the time the craft is in the city limits.
Very clever and makes you think about how the authorities would react if something like this ever happens.
My son made me watch it and he has a poor track record when it comes to suggesting films I might like so I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It's got a story to enjoy if your an adult and enough violence and special effects for a 12 year old to be scarred by. It's character building though isn't it?

I love it as well. Thought it should have beaten The Hurt Locker to the Oscar but I suppose it's not Hollywood enough to win.
I've hardly watched any films of late but I did watch Drive on Saturday night. As i'd heard so much about it I came away a little bit disappointed to be honest. It's shot beautifully, the acting is good, I guess I just found the story a little bit weak and slightly cliched. Good film though. Oh, and the soundtrack, yes it's nice, but it's a bit relentless playing over every scene.

I watched 'The Man From Earth' over the weekend.
It's well rated, mega low budget, looks like it was made in the 80's, not easy to get into and odd.
But not bad all the same.
Also watched 'The Secret World of Arrietty' recently. This is the latest animated film from Studio Ghibli and, like all their other stuff, is excellent.

Not strictly a film, but just finished watching Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Band of Brothers is one of the best series I have ever seen. Excellent acting and really gripping. The Pacific not so good but still fantastic.
While continuing the 10 years later than the rest of the world post - I saw The Green Mile yesterday for the first time. I've never liked Tom Hanks but the film was great. It took a big piece of Humble pie to admit that Hanks played the character really well.
Animal Factory is a film worth watching too. Edward Norton plays the leader of a small group in jail that try to escape. Bit of a poor man's Shawshank, but holds it own.

You should watch Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima if you liked the Pacific. The two films tell the story of one battle from the point of view of the Americans and the Japanese armies.
A lot of interesting info on the cost of the war effort for the Americans. I also never knew until I watched them that Ira Hayes was a real person and not just a Johnny Cash song.

I've seen Band of Brothers and have The Pacific on Blu-Ray ready to watch - looking forward to that.
The Green Mile is great, I really like that film. Talking of Stephen King, The Shawshank Redemption was on last night, ITV8+3 or something. This remains a classic film, if it's on I have to watch it.

I'll download that, cheers for the recommendation. I tend to be slow when watching films, so I'll give you my opinion in 10 years or so My next films to watch are The Pianist and Katyn. Katyn looks good, it's about the slaughter of Polish soldiers by Stalin's secret police. The Pianist is meant to be a masterpiece!

For some reason I decided to watch 'The Road' again last night. I find it odd that such a depressing film can be so 'enjoyable', for want of a better word.
I then watched '9', again. I love that film.

The Road is an incredible film. Depressing but incredible. I saw it in the cinema with about 3 other people who had obviously read the book first.
