Watched Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind again last night. Great film and sadly realistic of how most of our relationships end up.

Eternal Sunshine etc is a great film. Not new but watched recently.... Burn after reading: splendid funny and dark. 9 Songs : Gosh Agree about Burn After Reading. Another underhyped Coen movie just waiting to be discovered. Thought George Clooney was very well cast (as he was in O Brother ....) - his 'invention' was just so unexpected and had me nearly crying in the cinema. 9 Songs - Er, my missus didn't warm to it. Which is a shame!

Agree with Russ on Audition, saw it a few years back, pretty good film.
Recently seen Hunger Games, i'd say pretty overrated, went on for too long and was a pretty slow pace throughout,
21 Jump Street however, loved it, so funny, would totally recommend that, best film i've seen in a long time.
Also a mention for a film called Narc, fantastic film, don't tihnk many people have heard/seen it, but i'd thoroughly recommend it, a thriller/action, very good though.

I quite enjoyed Hunger Games but I came away thinking it could've been an awful lot better than it was, and shorter too. Films seem to go on for too long in general...the mainstream ones do anyway. I blame Titanic.
Saw Battleship the other day, I wasn't expecting much so I wasn't too disappointed. Started out hinting that it wasn't going to take itself too seriously but then became all too serious with naff dialogue and repetitive action scenes. Lots of big explosions and rubbish, though. Gotta love it.

Finally watched Irreversible the other night after finishing with Import/Export, which wasn't all that.
Irreversible was excellent and although the rape scene is fairly graphic, it's not as offensive as scenes of sexual violence which are glamourised by the way they are shot or the music that accompanies them. There's no inappropriate distraction from the horror of rape, and why shouldn't such an issue be tackled in that way?

Very disappointed with The Hunger Games - didnt say anything that hadnt alreday been said more eloquently, more wittily or more brutally than Battle Royale or The Running Man. Didnt emphathize with any of the charactors and ended up hoping that theyd all kick the bucket. In fact better acting all round from the plasticine heroes of Pirates which in the uausl Aardman way hit the button for kids while entertaining the grown ups accompanying them with plenty of background amusement (plus it obviously has Pirates in it too for bonus points)

The acting in THG isn't brilliant, and it was too slow. It dragged for too long at the beginning, before you get to the arena.
But having read the books the storyline in the film was very accurate. I hope they make a second and third film though, the storyline of the second and third books are much better than the first.

What disappointed me in the Hunger Games was the lack of any real explanation as to how they arrived in that situation. It showed the various camps and there was a small video that partly explained it, but I'd of liked more of a background on how that scenario came about. Like the oddly dressed, colourful and rich part of society and the camps, without more about that the film for me was just a film about the battle.
I've not read the book so maybe it's one of those where you need to have read it for a better background? It may well of taken away from the film had they spent more time on it. Does it explain more in the book? To be honest the film hasn't given me any want to read the book now, especially as I know what in print would I'm sure have been a gripping ending.

Definatly read the books for the background information etc... The background information on how they all arrised in such a situation is explained more and more through each of the books. By the third book you have a detailed explanation of how it all happened.
It all comes across much better in the books. I wish I had read the books first, as it was a ta hard to read the first book without picturing the films representation! But the second book is gripping and in my two week aster hols I've read all three books! Got a tad gripped by the storyline haha.

I thought the books wouldn't hold much interest after knowing the story from the film, wish I'd done it the other way round. But you reckon the book will be alright still having seen the film first?

They're still good, having seen the film. The first one is a bit hard to read (as the film is based on that and so I just pictured everything in the film representation!) but the second adn third books are very good.

Watched The Green Mile all the way through for the first time. Excellent.
Just watching Let The Right One In. Aside from some horrendous special effects involving cats, it's been brilliant so far.

Watched 'Sucker Punch' the other night following a recommendation. Wasn't going to bother until I found out thru IMDb that it was directed by Zack Snyder who also directed '300' and 'Watchmen'. As Father Ted would say, the movie was "chewing gum for the eyes, Dougal" with great visuals and a pretty decent score. Storyline was fairlynovel, acting okay (but don't expect any Oscar moninations - a Razzie maybe!) and a great vehicle for cgi. Worth a watch if you're a fan of movies that "wash over you". www.imdb.com/title/tt0978764/My main motivation for watching the movie was that Snyder is currently directing 'Man of Steel', the next Superman movie which I am getting a bit excited about. If the direction and cinematography are on a par with his previous work, I think that we could be in for something a bit special. I'm not particularly a fan of superhero movies but, for me, Snyder really hit the right note with Watchmen and I'm hoping he'll put a different slant on SM with MoS. Also watched 'A Scanner Darkly' for the umpteenth time. If you haven't seen or heard of this movie and you like things a bit different, WATCH THIS MOVIE! www.imdb.com/title/tt0405296/
