Madame Web - 4.5/10
There's a film in there somewhere but it's been butchered by studio interference and bad marketing. It's not quite as bad as Morbius but the villain is absolutely terrible. The last 10/15 minutes are honking and resemble a bad TV show from the early 00's
Also saw Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind afterwards. Obviously very old but my god what a film that is, near perfect 9/10

Bob Marley One Love - 6/10
The casting is pretty spot on, the writing is a bit naff. It rushes the story quite a lot and doesn't really let anything sink in. There's probably a 4 hour version of the film somewhere that's a lot better. Lots of promise but doesn't properly deliver it's potential

Iron Claw felt like it followed the wrong brothers story...or at least didn't do enough with the other brothers to make me care. It felt well acted but a bit empty and dull for me.
Just watched All of Us Strangers which was...kind of phenomenal. A very odd take on loneliness, childhood trauma, love, and...getting to come out to your ghost parents...I mean, it's a bit weird but it was brilliant.

Napoleon 3/10
Ridley Scott sure did a hachet job on the French here
I love historical dramas there have been other productions that turned out better then this.
Oh it’s quite old now but Sean Bean as Richard Sharpe was filmed ultra low budget for the Peninsular War but still it’s a good watch. Wow seriously they had no money at all but still it was good
The BBC did a one hour drama about a young Captain Napoleon fighting the redcoats at Toulon. Superbly produced (and it’s available on YouTube 😃)
This film has a Hollywood budget and it’s tedious, soppy and Napolean is just pathetic.
The scene for the Battle of Austerlitz was good for sure but that features prominently in the trailer and you think this will be amazing movie. It is not.

Ferrari 7.5/10
I’ve never been a fan of Adam Driver. He gets all these top roles and I could not see why. But damn he was good in this. So good I didn’t realise it was him until a little way through the movie
Commendatori Enzo Ferrari and his wife lost their young son to illness. He starts a second family with his mistress…as you do 🤷♂️
The film covers a huge rivalry between Ferrari and Maserati. While both put racing first their car production businesses are too small so mergers and partnerships are explored
Enzo Ferrari is hounded by the media and even The Pope himself over the number of drivers in Ferrari cars who get killed. It was a different era of motorsport. The film climax is a horrendous, graphic and sickening crash
This was an understated, well acted and superb movie

I’m really looking forward to Civil War coming out in April, I can’t stop watching the trailer. Nick Offerman playing a maniacal President is going to be fun and I do enjoy a good bit of dystopia.

Dune 2
Some of the reviews I read before "the best film ever on IMDB" "Austin Butler's villain is as good as Heath Ledgers Joker" so I head very high expectations going in. I also thought the first film was let down by it's lack of telling a full story so this had to stick the landing.
The Bad - I thought it was largely the most overrated film I've seen for a while, purely based on the hype. The cast is massive and largely wasted as the film focuses on about 4 of the 15-odd big-name cast members. The Editing of the film is proper dodgy and I've not seen that mentioned anywhere, random chunks are just skipped over and you're then 2-3 months ahead with no indication to say that happened. The story just sets up the next part of the story which I disliked about the first film
The Meh - Austin Butler's villain, the most generic villain you'll see this year. No idea why they are hyping that character up so much, people will only be let down
The Good - It looks nice, Wonka is very good in it. Bardem is his usual good self even if his character is comic relief. The story itself is quite good & the cast is still stacked even if they are all wasted
Still a solid 7/10, I suspect 40-45 year old nerds who loved the originals will be in love with it

Wow 2 out of 10 for Dune, it must be awful. Oh wait... good thing I read to the end:)
Of films I have seen recently, I probably enjoyed Tommaso most. It's directed by Abel Ferrara, and based on a slice of his life, he has his wife and daughter starring in it. Willem Dafoe is outstanding as the lead.

Ghostbusters: Frozen City
6/10 nothing more, nothing less. If you loved afterlife then it's up your alley, if you hated afterlife it won't be.

I quite liked Afterlife. If it wasn't for the nostalgia hook I think it'd be pretty meh and even more disposable than it is but I was fairly entertained.
I'd say it'd be quite hard to f*ck up a Ghostbuster movie but...y'know.

Roadhouse (2024 remake)
A good bad film. A remake of the 80’s Patrick Swayze version but with Jake Gyllenhall as lead and the location changed to modern day Florida Keys. I found the first half more enjoyable than the second when a very OTT Connor MacGregor enters the action but the fights are good fun although apparently quite a bit of CGI was used when you think this sort of film should be loads of good old fashioned stunt work like the 1989 version. It won’t win any awards but it was an enjoyable 2 hours and it’s on Prime. 6.5 out of 10.

Watched it after a few beers and it’s fine for a laid back watch at the weekend if you don’t take it too seriously!

Don't know if it is mentioned further back in the thread but I just watched Gran Turismo (which I quite enjoyed).
I knew it was based on a true story and was interested to see Jann Mardenboroughs dad Steve was a footballer. After the film I googled him and his Wikipedia entry says he played 6 games on loan for us in 1984.
I'd be very impressed if anyone remembers him.

Just watched the documentary 20 Days In Mariupol. I can’t recommend you do the same as it’s the most harrowing thing I’ve ever seen. It’s incredibly powerful.

Robot dreams is very sweet.
Silent animated film about a dog and a robot dealing with love and loss. So sweet and uplifting but also tender and emotional.
Not a comedy as such, but tonnes of funny little details and background characters.
Loved it. 🐶♥️🤖
