I'm still yet to look at anything to do with the new xbox which is some sort of a miracle the only thing I care about is that they haven't got with the "must be online at all times" aspect which was rumoured
with Regards to paying for 2nd hand games, All EA sports games and a few others have been doing this for years it's only for online play

Annoyingly I've just had to pay for FIFA online because a previous housemate used the code without my permission. Then played as spurs. Ugh.
I'm sure what I last read referred to the disc itself not working unless you pay twice. Gets associated to an account, you can play the game without the disc but then the next person will have to pay to use it, making pre-owned pointless.
Hope there'll be some U turn on that as I never buy games new (bar FIFA)

god knows what if your xbox breaks or change xbox live account etc. both happened to me recently
Anybody who loves the total war series I have found a MOD that changes the medieval total war 2 game into Lord of the rings 3rd age total war it's absolutely brilliant, much better maps then Battle for middle earth and game play is also better and more realistic

The new xbox won't require an 'always on' connection but WILL require you to connect to the internet once every 24 hours, which is still somewhat of a joke.
As for pre owned as I understand it, I can buy a game which I then have to install on my xbox. It's now associated to my online account so if I then lend said game to you, you'll have to pay a fee before you can use it.

It's like Microsoft don't actually want anyone to buy an Xbox One.
There is, of course, the aforementioned fees, daily connection requirement and lack of interest in, well, gaming...
But half of what they showed at the convention (the live tv, the sports, the fantasy football, the guide) isn't leaving America until "a later date", and the live tv will require a cable receiver with a HDMI input anyway.
The Kinect is a requirement to even turn the thing on (who's looking forward to their kids shouting "xbox tv" halfway through a live session?) which is of course a fantastic way to charge more for their product...
I'm not the only one that just wants a games console to play games. They want to have one box to rule them all, but that's never going to happen if it appears to be primarily a games console, even if all of the effort goes elsewhere. Gamers will be pissed (I am) that the games are taking a backseat, and what non-gamer is actually going to buy an xbox to watch tv, when they can already watch tv through the cable subscription that they need to have? Seriously?
I'm not buying the Xbox One, achievements be damned. I can't see the PS4 not winning this year, even though I'm probably not going to get one of those either.
Just got to wait for the Ouya to get some more good games and for Valve to release their console.

The Xbox Twitter account said there is no fee for second hand games. I predict that there will be a way of trading games which means MS/developers still get a cut though. Regarding the Kinect &random person shouting XBOX OFF, unlike the 360 version it is supposed to be able to memorise your voice (as well as read your heart rate) I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to stop anyone else controlling the commands. We'll see after E3 but gaming is already the back seat. 60% of 360 time worldwide is spent on non-gaming purposes so to say it is alienating gamers is not true. I'm exited to see what the 15 exclusives and 8 new IPs are before deciding. People just love to moan and take speculation as fact.

Microsoft corporate vice president Phil Harrison; "It sits on your harddrive and you have permission to play that game as long as you’d like," ... TSFOR- I don't think the new xbox is alienating gamers as such. It just doesn't look like' it's actually geared towards them first and full most. I think the issue is, if as you say 60% of the xbox 360 time is spent not gaming, would the people who bought the system in the first place have bought it if it wasn't for the games?
I think that's Microsoft's biggest potential mistake with how they are pitching this, if they are making the data streaming and TV features it's priority, then people who don't actually care about games can probably find their data streaming and TV needs somewhere else that's cheaper and more suited to their needs. (pc, apple tv, smart tv etc.).

You can't just pass it round letting everyone else have it for free. He also says you can pass the code on (something you can't do on PC)and get some cash back.

Risky, but potentially huge if you can get one of these in thousands of non gaming homes.

Yes exactly like a pc, thing is the pc doesn't have a massive used game market whereas the xbox and ps always have. Certainly when I was somewhat younger there's no way I could have afforded to buy a number of games at full price. Depending on how much they set their 'fee' could potentially see them throw away one of the huge advantages they currently have.

Well the fee will be full RRP but it looks like you can sell the usage back to MS. It all depends how fair their prices are.

I've installed PC games on multiple PC's before. You can't via Steam ofc, but Disc games you can.
Making people to pay for second hand games is silly. My and my brother both have a PS3, but we share our games. Now we have to technically buy two games to use in one household, under the new Xbox!
Xbox will lose a lot of customers, this isn't a system geared for gaming. They've lost the focus.

It's RRP? Haha, I'll stick with the 360 I think.
Essentially, they're selling it as offering the benefit of not having to change a disc (a truly labourious and time consuming task), for a mark up of 300/400% in profit for them. Nice work if you can get it.

Been keeping a lazy-eye on the developments of the next wave of consoles.
I had the Wii, which I flogged to get a 360, which I flogged to get a PS3.
The Wii was not really a 'gamers' console. Well, apart from RE4 (which was a triumph). The 360 was great, but I didn't want to pay for XBOX Live or a wireless adaptor, as I hardly play online. PS3 was wireless, free online gaming and had a Blu-Ray player. So that's how I ended up.
Although details are a little sketchy, nothing has really changed this time around.
The Wii U would seem a step-back from a 360/PS3. I don't really like the concept of the tablet/TV - I want a games console with a control pad. The One looks promising, but the emphasis so far is on everything but the games. The used game market restriction is a real put-off for me as I only can afford to buy one or two new games a year. I sell them and buy a used one from EBay. And so-on. The XBOX Live fee also puts me off. The PS4 is out front for me, so far. Be interested to see what it actually looks like and some more details. But providing I can buy and play second hand games as I do today, has free online gaming, has a Blu-Ray player and can play hooky .avi files then I expect this the one I'll get.
That said, there are loads of details to come out for the One and PS4 yet.
