Next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 now out, with a free five-hour trial. Having got a refund on the original version, I'm going to give it another go...

I had it on Series X from the start so the graphical issues and crashes that plagued the original Xbone/PS4 version didn't really impact my experience. It just wasn't a very engaging game, the world didn't feel any realer or immersive than Skyrim or GTA that came out on the 360/PS3 or even Watchdogs which is a fairly bland series. It sort of fell into the issue Fallout has had where it's neither a good RPG or a good action game or a good shooter. Doing lots of things averagely didn't make for a fun experience. Don't know if fancier graphics will change that but maybe there's more to this patch.

Yeh I had it on Series X and played about 15 hours, but this is the Next-Gen upgrade and it feels like a totally different game! I’d recommend trying the free trial at least. It’s not just graphical enhancements, the world feels a lot more immersive.

I've just finished Far Cry 6, which was pretty decent.
Now onto The Division 2 that I got for about £6 - it's a solid tactical shooter set in apocalyptic Washington.
To note, that is Washington DC in the USA rather than Washington in Sunderland, which I dare say can look fairly post-apocalyptic at times itself.

Finally got around to finishing Red Dead Redemption 2. Really enjoyed it. A lot of fun, but also quite emotional at times. Not sure I'd hold it up as the pinnacle a lot seem to, but definitely a solid 9/10 and well worth the hours invested in it.

So much hidden / under the radar stuff too. A masterpiece. I recently finished The Last of Us 2 - another fabulously well-crafted video game. I grew up punching games into a ZX81 from a magazine and playing the Atari 2600. The rate of progress in my lifetime is staggering.

Starfield reviews are in. As it’s on GamePass I’ll defo get it and then lament the fact I have no time to play it.

No mention for Elden Ring on here so I'll give that one it's due. Playing on PS5, excellent game and from someone who isn't a particularly skillful player, or real fan of difficult games, I still enjoyed and managed to complete it. Like a lot of these RPG's just required building levels up a bit before taking on certain battles. Elden Ring, like all From Software games I'm told, will deliberately throw you enemies far too difficult early on, so if can avoid them and kill a few lower level bosses elsewhere on the map before returning, it soon becomes possible to progress. Loved the experience of playing it. Story barely there but visuals, scope (it's a huge, free roaming map) and gameplay were outstanding.
Currently on the final chapter of the Resident Evil 4 remake. Lots of fun, and a lot easier than Elden Ring obviously. All the recent RE reboots have been strong I think, and the last original game, Resident Evil Village, also a great game.

Wingspan and Twilight Struggle. Games to get you thinking. Lots of dimensions to them. They never get stale. Online play recommended for extra challenge. Board game conversions, but chess is too. (Steam)

Me bird got a VR headset and bloody hell, that's a whole experience. Haven't really got anything VR specific game wise yet, looking forward to trying Half Life Alyx (shout out to the Orange Box in post one of this thread) when it next comes round on steam discounted.
Racing Sims are something else altogether mind, it all makes sense and being able to see through an apex is grand. Yet I've only got slower and more focused, a real relearning process but without much spare time to do it in.
Ah well, got the new FIFA and it's all changed in the four years since my last one, and defending is much harder. Njoku 52 is going to win a balloon door when I get round to starting a career.
Where the hell I find time for starwotsit or board games is beyond me.
