Following on from the roaring success of the highly-acclaimed' THE FILM THREAD', I bring you 'THE COMPUTER GAMES THREAD'.
As a serial non-completer of computer games, I've purchased a couple that can be played pretty much without needing to be completed - Football Manager 2012, and Civilization IV.
FM has been done to death, but are there any fans of the Civ series? I expect to lose several years of my life to this one, if my computer can handle it. I brought it when it first came out but my desktop wasn't up to it, so I've ordered it again hoping for better luck.
The xbox as taken a backseat but I anticipate going back to:
* Complete Skyrim * Complete The Orange Box * Complete Red Dead Redemption * Complete Mass Effect 3
What PC games should I definitely buy?

I played a bit of CIV IV when it came out, but you have to invest a lot of time into it so good luck job and relationship wise. I can't confess to being a PC snob but I'd recommend you use this handy website to test your system requirements against the game before you buy. Very easy to use... www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx

Dark Souls has been keeping me entertained and annoyed for the past couple of weeks, definitely the hardest game I've played but one the rewards patience. The Witcher 2 has some very good moments, not as massive a world as Skyrim or as beautiful but the combat is more logical and there's a decent storyline to go with it. I'm also a serial non completer and the pace I'm getting on with Dark Souls it could be some time.

Nice thread! I'm playing Skyrim too at the moment, but only get chance for around 6 hours per week. Enjoying it now though. Red Dead Redemption is IMO the best game of the last 2 or 3 years - it is utterly fantastic. I'm preying Rockstar eventually release a sequal. I need to get back playing that online. I am a fan of 'The Walking Dead' comic books and the TV series so I was chuffed when a game version was released a few months back. It is released in chapters every 6-8 weeks and number 3 of 5 has just come out. Looking forward to that. It's a interactive version of the comic set on the same timeline and you can get it on 360, PS3 and PC. As for the future I am very much looking forward to 'The Last of Us' - a game from Naughty Dog based on their excellent 'Unchartered' engine. It's apost-apocalyptic adventure game set in Pittsburgh. It looks stunning:

Is that PS3 only? Looks amazing.
Glad you're getting to grips with Skyrim. It has a hell of a lot to offer.

Completed red dead redemption very good game, love online mode though makes it that much better
Skyrim i have given up with becomes very much routine of -accept quest-> go to a cave --> run through cave killing a vampire or rebel --> get the treasure I became very bored of it after a while and haven't played it for a long time
recently bought batman arkham city an absolutely epic game, a bit like assasins creed type game play but mix it with batman it just becomes an unreal game with every villian from all the batman films not yet completed but i think i'm near the end

"What PC games should I definitely buy?" Dishonored. Stealthy, steampunk assassination game with an emphasis on personal choice (Plus anything from Bethesda is automatically art) Can't wait for it to come out ! Also, if you're looking for something cheap compared to the amount of hours you get from it try minecraft, with mods the game is massive!

I'm not a big gamer but the most recent in the Age of Empires series of PC games would be highly recommended.

I`m currently playing Skyrim on Pc at the moment, have to agree a fantastic game with so much depth to it i didn`t ever see myself playing this game type as i have been a member of a gaming clan for around 10 years and always played the COD franchise and MW but i got completly bored with them in the end as they are just the same sort of thing nowdays. I will definitly get Dishonored I tried a couple of the Batman games but i didnt really get on with them All my gameing is done on the Pc

Didn't think I'd see anyone mention Dark Souls. One of the best games I've played in years and years. Hard as nails though.

suprisingly i also bought Age of Empires the other day same time as batman played it once not even bothered with it since awful game, they complicated such a simple game and it ruined the franchise also the added inclusion of gun's may of had something to do with it
For those who like Football Manager but want to try something slightly different I would Reccomend Fifa manager, you can have a choice of roles within the club from marketing executive(Sell advertising boards, merchandise sales etc.) to designing your club a new stand or stadium you can also start with a village club and build it up from there

Started my first game on CIV IV today. Will not be resuming it. I need to learn how to play it properly. My breaking point is when the Romans stole Cambridge from me in about 1400AD.

I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who ever turns their Wii on any more.
I have all three current home consoles available, but Xenoblade Chronicles (a Wii exclusive with zero motion controls) has me captivated at the moment.
