Finally got No Man's Sky, which I loved the sound of when I first heard of it, but which was slated upon release. Since then, however, it's had some major updates and I have to say it's well worth a look now.
I'm looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077 and will probably pre-order it. The last game I did that with was Red Dead 2, which I got about 15% of the way through before abandoning it. I think I'll have to give it another go at some point, because it's clearly a classic game.

No Man's Sky was such a huge disappointment at the time. I'm glad I kept my copy as the updates make it a totally different and very good game.
One day I'll finish all the Soulsbourne dlcs and defeat every boss, and maybe get through Sekiro as well, but all of that seems very unlikely.
Couldn't get into Red Dead 2, the world just seemed so slow and lifeless.

I think (hope) No Man's Sky is going to get a whole lot better to. They're clearly listening to the people who play it and making the most in-demand changes/additions.
It has almost limitless potential. It's easy to see how it fell short of the huge expectations people had for it.

Those who play Fortnite - what do you think, is it suitable for ten-year-olds? I am a bit thick about this stuff now. All the children in my Year 5 class are mad on it, but I have told my son he's not going anywhere near it, to stick to Fifa, etc. What would you say? Relent or not?

Has anyone here played Manager League. It's an old school football management game. I've been playing it for years and would recommend it as it doesn't take up too much time to play. It's undergone a major update - here is the address www.managerleague.com/.

FM20 was free with my GamePass subscription, so I took the plunge for the first time since the 2016 version.
It's ridiculously good these days. I know hearing tales of people's FM saves is up there with people describing their dreams, BUT...
In charge of Cambridge (obvs), we missed out on automatic promotion by one point to Plymouth after stumbling during the run-in. We faced Exeter after they snuck into the play-offs and went on the ultra-defensive for the away leg, content to come away with a 1-0 loss. We dominated the second leg but got sucker-punched by not one but TWO counter-attack goals, meaning a 3-0 deficit with about 50 minutes left to salvage the season.
Reggie Lambe scored a penalty before the break and then, after George Hirst (on loan from Leicester) had TWO goals disallowed in the final 10 minutes, Jack Roles scored in the 89th minute and Harvey Knibbs made it 3-3 on aggregate in the third minute of four added. As I frantically adjusted my tactics from all out attack to a little more conservative, Exeter won it in the fifth of those four minutes with a stunning 25-yarder.
To top it off, after Spurs accepted an offer to extend Roles' loan he ended up joining P*sh on a permanent deal following their promotion to the Championship.

Bringing this thread back to life, to talk about The Last Of Us games. Late to the party with the first ones but I've recently acquired a PS5 and have taken advantage of some offers on PS Plus and Now (why they have two online subscription options I still don't know) and have just finished all of the Last of Us games. As someone with ADHD I tend to hyperfixate and get overly invested in people and characters, but I've never been so emotionally affected by a game as I have by these. They are incredible. From the prologue of the first game you're punched in the guts, and the hits keep coming throughout. The growing connection between Ellie and Joel as the story progresses is so real and never feels forced. I was gutted when it ended. The Left Behind expansion gave more backstory which didn't drop in quality from the main game as some add ons can.
The second game had a lot of backlash from, presumably incels and bots, because the game dared to include a woman with muscles and a transgender boy. Literally the end of the world for their fragile masculinity. Beyond that, it's up there with the first game although maybe missing a bit of the bond felt with the characters due to it's inevitable growth and different story arcs. It's never boring though and the scenery and gameplay is stunning. I'm not really the type to replay games once I've finished but will make an exception for these. If you have a PlayStation and haven't played these, I urge you to.
There's a TV series being made which I'm a bit anxious about because if it differs from the games I'll be disappointed.

I never got into the last of us games despite trying, I had just completed a few of the uncharted games at the time so maybe it was a bit more of the same and I just got tired of the game play mechanics. If you want a 10/10 game on Playstation then Ghosts of Tsushima is something else, it looks absolutely stunning but the gameplay is spot on as well. Other than that Valhalla, god of war and Spiderman are all good bets on the PS5 For anyone who used to play Age of Empires, the new one has gone back to it's roots and is just a slightly better version of AOE2

Aye to be honest I did exactly the same. Played Uncharted, then The Last of Us and felt it was a bit samey, like you say because of similar mechanics, so left it for a bit. I went on to finish Valhalla, then went back to TLOU and got sucked in and played through both games and the DLC. Ghost of Tsushima is on my list to get as soon as it's on offer 😂 it looks amazing. I've just started Days Gone but it's not really grabbed me at the moment.

Bit tedious towards the end when you are killing the hordes but otherwise a solid "free" game

Football Manager people can you help?
I haven't played since I was a teen and just used the disc but am getting it for my son's birthday next month. For a PC (new but not so high spec) where is best to play/buy the game? The site gives Steam and Epic as options. We tried something on Steam before and couldn't figure it out but any advice?

Normally get a cheap key off a third party site and then you just activate on Steam. Or if you're already in the Xbox ecosystem I think it's on GamePass, albeit the slimmer version perhaps more similar to the older games.

So some good places to get it from 1. Cdkeys.com or a similar 3rd party site 2. The club shop (if they've got any left they're like 20 quid) 3. Try find a youtuber who dabbles in FM they'll have a discount code of 20% off that will make it cheaper
