We were looking for a striker and we found a striker.
But Heaven Knows We're Miserable Now.

Wasn't everyone moaning that Bonner didn't get any loans last year?

So one loan player has to drop out each week. It won't be the Gk, the two defenders or Stoksey. I doubt it will be the new lad we have signed otherwise what's the point of signing him. So are we going to be sending back Richards? In most probability yes. Imagine he will disappear back to QPR in January. I will stick my neck out and say that Monk & co probably already realise that Which begs the question, who thought it was a good idea to sign him? A player with no pre-season, injury prone and attitude baggage.

It's seems pretty simple to me, we either sign players that should be too good for us but have question marks, whether that's injury or other baggage or we sign players whose ability and therefore cost has fallen into our affordability window like this lad from Bolton. The other avenue is players whom we couldn't afford to buy ourselves but are at our level but at bigger clubs so can be loaned out like Stokes. We've signed 13 players or however many, some will be good, some won't be, that's football but they seem to be lower League One level to me, which seems right even if it's not exciting.

Birmingham sign Stansfield for £12m (twelve million quid). Another one that slipped through our fingers.
Edit: 7 year contract too, the lad has absolutely no ambition.

So, Champions League club Liverpool have spent £10m, possibly rising to £12.5m, to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus.
Birmingham have spent £15m, possibly rising to £20m, to sign Jay Stansfield from Fulham.
Bonkers.

It was only two years ago Barry Bannan was the height of luxury in this league.
£10/12/15m is all the same, an utterly unhinged amount to pay to score against Burton and Crawley.
Feels a little bit "well done, he's 13" and I don't know how this tale is going to end.

Happy with this window. Was always going to be a full reboot. Lots of relatively young players, with lots to prove, alongside an experienced / well respected central midfield 2. Expect we’ll top up in January. Feeling positive.
