The way Poch turned it around in the second half of the season I thought he'd done enough to keep his job until next season. Clearly not. Fast becoming a joke club. Nah scrub that they've been a joke a lot longer 😁

By all accounts, it really for once genuinely was, “by mutual agreement”. The stupid thing is why Chelsea would want Pochettino to feel so unwanted that he’s happy to leave for Bayern or Man Utd. More fool Chelsea, a club run by idiots.

The people at clubs like Chelsea and Man Utd seem to think a new manager should be able to come in and immediately compete, simply because they're Chelsea or Man Utd. They don't seem to realise just how giant the gulf is between where they are now and where they want to be.
In their first two and a half seasons in charge, Arteta took Arsenal to 8th, 8th and 5th, whilst Klopp took Liverpool to 8th, 4th and 4th. But in each of those cases, the club realised they were well off the pace and allowed their managers time to forge an identity for their side and build something. Success wasn't immediate and progress wasn't always linear, mistakes were made. But over time, they were able to build.
Every time Chelsea or Man Utd sack a top coach, they just restart the process.
Chelsea finished 12th with only 44 points two seasons ago, scoring just 38 goals. Under Poch, they improved to 6th, with 63 points and scoring 77 goals. The improvement is significant, a big step in the right direction.
Who is going to want that job now? A top coach would be mad to go near it.

Chelsea must be nearing the point of the Watford zone where a coach’s reputation doesn’t take much of a hit if you get sacked by Watford. Chances are you still have a good reputation, a generous pay off and can get another decent job elsewhere. Rob Edwards and Roy Hodgson spring to mind as recent examples.

I actually forget Rob Edwards was at Watford until you said it there.
He's nailed on for the Ipswich job now though I guess.

There isn't yet but Brighton, Man U and Chelsea are all heavily rumoured to be after him.

I think he will want to stay and try and do what Edwards narrowly failed to do. Better to be a small fish in the pond at this stage of his managerial career than try to swim with the ruthless big fishes!

I think Brighton would be a very good fit for him & I could see him taking that step.

Am a little surprised Potter's been out of the game as long as he has at this point. Likely has a specific type of job in mind. Fully expected to see him turn up at Palace after Hodgson went. Thought he'd have been on West Ham's list too.

He might have been, but to be fair, can't blame West Ham for jumping at the chance to take Lopetegui.
If that appointment works, West Ham are in genuine danger of becoming a big club. The infrastructure and fan base are there, probably for the first time ever.

Better to be a small fish in the pond at this stage of his managerial career than try to swim with the ruthless big fishes! Many managers will only get 1 shot at the big time - If he goes to a team like Chelsea and gets sacked, he will a) get a huge payoff and b) walk into a 'lesser job', either a smaller PL club like Wolves, Bournemouth etc or a decent Championship team like WBA, Sunderland etc... If he struggles at Ipswich what next, either they stick with him and he tries to get them up again or they sack him and he probably ends up at the WBA, Sunderlands... As we saw with Bonner, there is no loyalty in football, they may sack him at Xmas when sat on 8 points!
