He might have been, but to be fair, can't blame West Ham for jumping at the chance to take Lopetegui. I suppose, although I actually think Lopetegui is fairly overrated. Considering who he's managed, he's achieved pretty much jackshit at senior level. Bit of a reverse-Allardici there – he'd never have been managing Real Madrid if his name was Julian Logan. The fact that he went to Wolves says a lot (no offence, Stu). Of course, feel free to quote this post back at me when West Ham romp to third place and FA Cup glory next season.

I'm the guy who was baffled as to why Leicester would hire Ranieri and was utterly convinced they'd go down that season. So, even if Julen is a wild success at the Hammers, I won't be bragging about it. My hit rate on predictions is extremely low! On that note, I am fairly certain we're getting relegated this coming season and absolutely definitely not going to win the league with a gorgeous brand of flowing attacking football.

Looks like this story has some serious legs now... I'm no fan of Tuchel, and Kompany may have potential despite the washout of the last season, but this is as bizarre as Martinez getting the Belgium & Portugal jobs. Have they both got the same agent?

It is definitely one I didn't see coming. Kompany may indeed have some potential but his intractable disposition with Burnley's tactics last season was bordering on comical. I have no problem with having a philosophy but sometimes you just have to adapt to the hand you've been dealt and his apparant refusal to compromise was tinged with a little arrogance IMO. The irony is that it's quite possible he would have more success with that philosophy at a club like Bayern where the quality of player is obviously a huge step up.

Looks like Clarke is going to Barnsley, so expect all those bullshit twitter transfer accounts to start including them in their SCOOPS on Cheltenham's ex-players.

Considering how well Dyche did at Burnley, keeping them in the Prem for so long, it's a bit of a shock that Kpmpany is so highly regarded in comparison, having taken them straight back down with barely a whimper. If I were them I'd be terrified Lee is about to follow. Shudder.

Wayne Rooney in line for the Plymouth job.
Not sure there’s much you can say about that but laugh really.
