I completely missed this and apologies if it's already been mentioned. Ferguson made The Guardian's Football Daily Quote of the Day yesterday: QUOTE OF THE DAY “They were just dropping like flies in the second half and the referee was allowing it to happen and didn’t add any extra time on. He was awful. It was really, really poor officiating from him, and not for the first time. You have to congratulate the opponents though, they’re at Wembley. Very luckily, but they’re there” – Darren Ferguson tries – and fails – to be magnanimous after Peterborough’s narrow defeat to Oxford in the League One playoff semis. The ref added on at least 5 mins in the first half and 8 in the second half. I don't think it was the ref to blame, more Fergie's own eyesight - crying out for a penalty that never was. I think he imagines that he is Fergie Senior these days and can dictate play continues until his team scores; thankfully, Fergie time seems to be a thing of the past! I promise not to turn this into a Guardian Football Daily thread but this was yesterday's letter in response to the Ferguson quote from the day before: FOOTBALL DAILY LETTER Can I be the first of 1,057 people to read Darren Ferguson’s comments about the refereeing in Peterborough’s playoff semi-final defeat (yesterday’s Quote of the Day) and express their shock that this particular apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree?” – Ed Taylor (and no others).

It made me happy. And if it makes me happy, it can’t be that bad. No need to crow! I was Royston Crow Sports Editor for nearly a decade. I can’t help it.

Note that our average away following was 832 Vs pish 748 despite our pitiful away from.

And tbh, I think "pitiful" is putting a Harris-esque overly positive spin on it. 17 points from 23 games. Only Carlisle's (15 points) was worse.

Amusing headline from the Boro local rag about next season’s away allocation
“Fewer away tickets will be sold at Cambridge next season as the club thinks it can find enough home fans to fill the seats”

Unlike B*ro who reduced our capacity and didn't sell them!

Amusing headline from the Boro local rag about next season’s away allocation “Fewer away tickets will be sold at Cambridge next season as the club thinks it can find enough home fans to fill the seats” Perhaps the editor should be reminded that, despite the fact they had a very exciting young team challenging for promotion and playing very good football, whilst we had Neil Harris football and were struggling to stay up, we still managed 72% of the crowds they had. I doubt they'd get above 7,000 if they were in a League One relegation fight. Not as big as they think they are.

They rely on the away fans coming to their ground to bump up their attendances eg Derby, Portsmouth.

Our away capacity is 1,500 and Portsmouth/Derby took 4000 to their ground. We have achieved growth by having more home fans attending. Its a great initiative to hand over the South Stand to home fans.

They’ve had some low home attendances for a promotion chasing team against the likes of Fleetwood and Cheltenham who bring 150 fans with them.
Many highlights of their games show a completely empty stand behind the goal.

We've not sold out the home supporter areas very often; not saying this won't improve by keeping the SS for our fans, but I can't think of many games apart from the clubs with 'BIG' away support that we got close to a full house.

I think the point is that 1400 away fans for a 7710 attendance doesn't make nearly as big a difference to overall or average as 4000 away fans for a 12755 attendance. All clubs attendances are inflated by big away clubs. Theirs are just comparably more inflated. They give a third of their stadium over to away fans. We gave away less than a fifth, and are reducing that due to demand for home seating. Fun note: Their worst attended game of the season had 14 less attendees than ours. #tinpot

Its nice that the club has ambitions to help us grow. Not there yet but the future is bright.
