The opportunity for friends to sit together, without being st holders, family's as well of course. Think the club MAY lose out a little on this, but it's the only way to grow the fan base. The club seems to be making all the right decisions ATM, and this is one of them.

We’ve sold out our home seating area many times in L1 which is what the club are mainly addressing by having the SS for home fans.
Always lots of kids wandering around the Habbin who are too short to see the game properly and they aren’t allowed to stand against the pitch side wall like I used to be able to. Really good move by the club to cater for younger fans.
Look forward to the whining from likes of Birmingham, Pish and Bolton etc about <1k away allocation in a corner.

Yes understandable, but hopefully it's only temporary, as we're massive now, and will soon have new stands.

We've not sold out the home supporter areas very often; not saying this won't improve by keeping the SS for our fans, but I can't think of many games apart from the clubs with 'BIG' away support that we got close to a full house. Its nice that the club has ambitions to help us grow. Not there yet but the future is bright. Absolutely. Very bright. I know people will point the fact that we have, historically, been a club of 3-4k gates, but I don't think our club has been very good at attracting support in the past. Not helped by being in non-league for years. This seems to have changed in recent times. Huge amounts of work have gone into the "fan experience" in the short term, and buying the ground back now allows for the badly needed redevelopment, which is absolutely key. Without it, we may well reach 2030 and be back with 3-4k gates, playing 4th tier football. But with a revamped ground, in a city of our size, with a board who know how to engage with their community - we can absolutely see crowds averaging 10k, 12k, etc. As I've mentioned elsewhere, we're a bigger city than Ipswich, Barnsley, Blackburn, Blackpool, Huddersfield, Middlesbrough, Preston, Rotherham, Watford & Wigan. They all attracted gates in excess of 10k last season. We are a major city, world famous, and demonstrably capable of supporting a championship sized club. We now finally have a board who seem to get that and are willing to invest in the infrastructure. It's very bright.

Scary when you hear Tojo being optimistic about redevelopment! What? He's no longer the grumpy copper who kept Trevor George in check in the NRE all those years ago?

Totally agree with most of that; my worry would be the safe arrival, departure and travel plans of all those people, which I am sure is exercising the minds of the brightest at the club (and hopefully external stakeholders as well), who can draft viable plans to address this issue

Yeah, I think we will likely lose out tbh, but as you say it's good to see us looking longer term rather than the short picture. It's almost more encouraging that this growth in home support has come at a time of us being 'unsuccessful' on the pitch (at least at surface level to a newbie). It makes me think that not only does it mean the room for growth is exceptional if we were in the top half, but that it's also sustainable.

Too much terrace and nowhere near enough seating. Bonkers to think the club (or at least some of our supporters) wants to build a 4,000 terrace bank.

That's a pretty big 'if' when we've struggled to stay in the league for the last two seasons. I admire the club's ambition, I really do. They have delivered on the training ground and may well deliver on the stadium redevelopment. But, it isn't hard to spot flaws in this plan. That fans enthusiasm for the perennial relegation battle dwindles and that they may not survive in L1 until the stadium is redeveloped.

It's an unavoidable flaw - football is cyclical.
With or without a redeveloped stadium that's still going to be the case.

It will certainly be interesting to see whether the South Stand gets the level of home ticket sales that the club are anticipating this season. They are taking a risk with that policy, but hopefully it will pay off for them. The support over the last three seasons has been absolutely amazing. Let's hope it continues.
