Pish sign their second player from Sweden. Admittedly for half a million, but it's just another example of clubs thinking outside of the box. 'Being smart'. Have a rep there apparently. Good standard of player there. Why dont we do this sort of thing? I don't think it's a secret that P*sh do far better in the player market than we do. But it's not a mystery as to why. They have funding and infrastructure that we can't compete with. Yet.

Obviously I know we're not going to spend much money on players. What I meant was Sweden's football is of a good standard and many clubs are semi pro; it would be a great place to look for players who want to 'better' themselves (if I have to spell it out.....as free transfers).

Maybe, it would be a calculated risk. Peterborough have (I think unusually for them) tried it this season and clearly haven't found any free transfers, or they'd have signed them instead of the 2 they've paid fees for. When George Mongin and Sully Seychelles come good we'll have loads of options anyway.

I'm all for us looking outside the box, and improving recruitment but when it comes to stuff like this there is a lot to consider. Work permits, scouting costs etc.

Nothing is free, unfortunately.
Scouts need to be knowledgeable, well connected, and good ones cost money.

A part-time scout wouldn't be too much to set up and work permits ect surely could be dealt with by our office people and Mr Strang.

Well no, let's be fair. In the interest of balance lets all say something nice about Peterborough. I'll start. I went there once and saw a frog at Ferry meadows. Andrew I went there once and saw a Dion Dublin hat-trick That was one of our better evenings

I say: does anyone have an empirically-forged OPINION on Mick George's top soil? The church could do with sprucing up, starting with a new dirt floor & the ALPACA fancier is offering 20% off plus free delivery. But I don't want any old shite, oh no.

Work permits (certificate of sponsorship to give the proper title) are relatively simple when you have accreditation. But a player has to fulfill certain criteria, generally be an International., premier league clubs have the resources to appeal, and often get their own way, but I doubt we have the money to do that.

Be careful father, if they offer you black fen topsoil it will have been garnered from fields awfully close to Peterborough and thus will need thorough sanitisation and certification. It may even burn to vapour when it encounters the sacred surface of the chapel floor rendering all your investment currency for the devil.

Central Europe? North Africa? The Middle East? Central America? All untapped markets that we'd be complaining we're missing out on even if we had 95% world coverage. All with their own employment, tax, and immigration laws. We could spend vast amounts setting something up and still be gazumped by a friendly phonecall to a rival club from someone in the know.

So much negativity. We'd hire a Swedish bloke would be the logical step. Don't know about all those other places you'd try, but Swedish football is very well run and much like our own except smaller.
