Got a few local gigs coming up for the first time in 18 months! Looking forward to Other Half at The Blue Moon next week and there's a few 6music darlings at The Portland over the next few months, definitely going to Yard Act and tempted with Courting and Egyptian Blue

Spear Of Destiny last night at The Waterfront in Norwich. First indoor live gig for 18 months. Slightly unsure what to expect beforehand but door security were efficient and very `light touch` checking everyone was either double-jabbed or had had a recent negative test ; thankfully no sign of anyone giving them any grief. SoD themselves were a pleasant surprise - I went at the request of a work colleague and whilst I never actively disliked the band I had to be bribed into going having encountered them a couple of times previously as a support act and finding them to be pleasantly inoffensive listening at best. As a headliner and in a pretty small venue , however ,they came across much better than I remembered........ ............or maybe it was just the pure joy of a `proper` gig again after such a long wait.

At a concert for the first time since lockdown last night. Four up and coming (hopefully) Danish bands and 1 from Norway. Best of the bunch was a band called killing who were very good. Bloodgutter were enjoyable, although lacked a bit of originality. Among Phantoms were ok as were Vansind, but doubt either will make it. Heave blood and die played some good stoner metal but got a bit repetitive after a while.

Manic Street Preachers on Sunday night in Cardiff for me. A freebie for NHS workers so I decided my other half should take me!! Really looking forward to it. First gig since November 2019. Nearly 2 years ago.

Another night of up and coming Danish bands last night. Terminalist kicked things off and were pretty good, then came an awful rap metal band where the guitarist seemed to think he was Tom Morello. They were followed by South Haven who have really come n since I saw them a couple of years back. Then (o), stupid name great band, Vola and Cabal. A really good night overall and looking forward to seeing Cabal again in December.

The Lathums at the Forum were amazing. Incredible energy and songs and a great atmosphere.
Tonight was Public Service Broadcasting at the Dome in Brighton. I feel so privileged to have been present at these two gigs within a couple of weeks.

Off to see the excellent TV Priest in Bedford tonight. Signed off only one show by Sub Pop, they’ve a sort of Protomartyr / The Fall thing going on, though new material leans more towards The Constantines or even The National in places. First time seeing them, looking forward to it!

Saw Genesis in Liverpool last month. Obviously they had their limitations but it was a fantastic show and a tick off my bucket list.

We saw Biffy Clyro at the Corn Exchange at the weekend, my first and likely only gig of theirs as I really don't get on well in large crowds these days. Support Bob Vylan were good fun; 'grime punk', apparently. A satisfying amount of noise and some bantz from Bobby. Having read twitter reports of BFC's first show of the short 'n' cosy Fingers Crossed tour the night before ours, I was braced for the first hour to be a full run through of the cd that had been released earlier in the week. That had not gone down well with some, and I understand why, but bands tour new music rather than their greatest hits compilation. That said, they did seem to switch to a greatest hits focus with not so many from TMOHEA from Saturday, and it was a great night. The only tickets I could get (despite being in the pre-sale fan girlie category) were on the balcony and it was my first time up there in 32 yrs of going! After an afternoon on the terrace we didn't complain too much about having a nice sit down though, and there was a good atmosphere. It was everything I had hoped it would be. Mr KW is not a fan, but he conceded that it was a "fine" show.

Went to see Ferocious dog in Bedford last weekend. They were on top form with a setlist containing most of the new album "The Hope" with some fan favourites mixed in. If you are in to folk-punk I would recommend them whole heartedly.
Off to see the totally bonkers Henge this weekend, also in Bedford.

I have been to a fair few gig's over the past few months. Vaccines, Declan McKenna, Tom Grennan and The Sherlocks, it's great to have some live music again.
The Sherlocks were at the Portland the same evening as Fountaines DC and The Lathums were in town so it wasn't sold out but was still a good one, love The World I understand it's a cracking song. Were also meant to see the Snuts in Norwich on Monday but they postponed, took a bit of a flyer on these tickets as they were quite cheap, has anyone on here seen them?

I'm clearly stuck in the '90s. After Manics a few weeks back I saw a Britpop Unplugged show with Dodgy bloke, Bluetones bloke and Seahorses bloke. A mixture of acoustic versions of their hits and their solo stuff (which nobody was really interested in). Then saw Suede on Sunday night in Bristol. They played Coming Up in full and were excellent. Next month I'm seeing The Libertines in Cardiff. Their stuff is from the 2000s so may be a bit modern for me!

Seth Lakeman at the Corn Exchange last weekend, touring the 15th anniversary of Freedom Fields. It was very good but far less lively this time around!
The experience at the CE was completely different to that of a fortnight before. They appear to be taking direction from the artists, as I see that for Billy Bragg this week they are again asking for covid passes. We were asked to take a LF test beforehand but nobody checked whether we had. Lots of masks being worn but that may simply reflect the, ahem, older demographic.
