Two things, the pub this thread was named for is now a proper pub again and it’s a joyful thing! Also in a shameless plug, once again The Three Horseshoes (Stapleford) will once again be hosting a beer festival over the Easter Weekend, following the roaring success of last year’s event. 20 + Cask ales, plus real cider and locally brewed craft beer will be served from Friday lunchtime right through to Monday evening/until it runs dry. All day food from our kitchen Friday & Saturday, BBQ Sunday and Monday afternoons and winding down with live Jazz Monday from 4PM. Yeah, The Kingston is better than ever. It's back to being the best pub in Cambridge, although the competition has weakened considerably in recent times, for a variety of reasons! I enjoyed your beer festival last year, will definitely consider a trip at the weekend.

Just popped into The Maypole for the first time in a while and whilst I’ve always enjoyed it for drinks, I hadn’t eaten before and have to say it was exceptional. Wide beer selection and well kept, varied menu a mix of pub classics and Italian dishes. I had the fresh pasta and homemade meatballs and it was truly excellent, well seasoned meatballs, slightly spicy tomato sauce and warm ciabatta to dip in the sauce, fantastic. I’ll be back to sample more of the Italian fare for sure!

Definitely worth it, I was torn between the meatballs I had and the beef ragu, went for the meatballs and will be returning just to sample the ragu.

Went to the Old Bull at Royston today, I think they have got a good balance of Covid control while keeping the pub atmosphere intact. Plenty of well spaced tables inside and out, sanitizer available ,tables and chairs cleaned after use, app for ordering etc Nice pint of Tribute to : ) I had fishcakes in there. The salad dressing had horse raddish sauce in it! I couldn't taste anything properly after that.
