Feels very much like the final throw of the dice for the current structure. If this turns out to be the Dunne situation all over again there is surely no way the head coach thing could continue.
I was slightly concerned when we won those 4 in a row (we were extremely fortuitous in the Colchester and Bradford games) and even more wary once the players / backroom staff came out and publicly gave their support to Bonner. I felt it more or less made Barry’s decision for him. The last two performances have been Calderwood level of rubbish and that is concerning.
Willing to give him my backing but slightly sceptical that he is the man in charge of spending this increased budget and worried it may all be blown on yet more crap players. I am also worried that Bonner is too close to the current squad to instigate the cull that is needed. We simply cannot have another season of carrying some of the dead wood in this squad. I hope that he is ruthless enough to make the tough decisions, but I’m not massively hopeful.

Bonner is a great coach, but not sure if he will be the best at identifying players that can work for him. It seems to be the case that it’s all about Strang (again) and that deeply, deeply worries me. We have lost out on some decent signings because of his dithering or non acceptance on outside help/scouting.
I truly hope Mark succeeds where others have failed miserably, but if an experienced and previously successful coach has failed miserably because of the set up, I cannot see how Mark will.
Call me pessimistic, but we’re we promised a completely new set up/ new broom and all that... it’s beginning to feel like eat, sleep, repeat!

First thoughts are that it's underwhelming but in fairness he did well enough during his caretaker spell to justify giving him the job...you may have to squint a little and kindly ignore his supporting role in the last two failed managers to agree, but if any one else was caretaker for 4 wins and a draw in seven games you'd probably snap his arm off to make him manager, particularly given we were in free fall in the last strokes of Calderwood.
It will be interesting to see who we pair him with as an assistant. It's the first time a new manager hasn't been lumbered with one so I hope that allows us to choose wisely...I would assume someone with a bit of experience for a rookie manager to lean on but we'll see, maybe two rookies with a fresh approach is the way to go. I half expect Pell or Corr.
Not happy if I'm honest but I doubt anyone would please me (Rust was interesting rather than exciting, some of the other options bogged down by previous failures).
It's an excellent achievement to be managing a professional football team having never played the game professionally himself so congratulations to Bonner for that. I would probably accuse us of making the cheap choice if we hadn't already promised an increased budget next season - Paul must have a lot of confidence in him being the right man.
Lots of things I want to see in the final run of games. I want to know he can overturn a mini slump for starters. The test of anyone is how they respond to setbacks and so far, according to you lot at least, we followed up Carlisle with another flat performance.

Well didn't see that coming after two abject performances recently, massively underwhelmed.
Bigger playing budget next season should in theory give us a chance of not making the same mistakes but then I'm not going to hold my breath. Sigh...

there's no way i can watch o'neil, lewis and lambe in our midfield again next season, so if Bonner gives them extensions then i wont bother turning up next season...

For the sake of the Club, I want this to work. Once again after a couple of dismal performances it`s time again to show some pride in the shirt.
Prove to us this Saturday Bonz, they`ve all had an almighty boot up their backsides and we put in a performance from the 1st Minute to the 96th !! Managers / Coaches / Players all twitter on about a hard week on the training field, well lets see it work from the moment the Whistle is blown.
Interesting who will be bought in as his assistant which in many ways may answer some of the doubts that still hover over our the club we all Love. Hopefully they`ll have Pedigree and experience too (a lot to ask perhaps in our Financial State)........So,Luke Chadwick anyone ?
I just hope he can be ruthless and chop many that need Culling......Taylor,Lewis,Lambe,Jones,O`Neill and can sign Mullin and keep Sam Smith as well !
Interesting month or Two coming up!

Underwhelming lazy decision by the Board. Don’t believe there was a thorough process this was just the easy decision.
However, I don’t care who’s manager if I’m enjoying watching United so for that reason I have to hope I’m wrong and Bonner is a success.

I'd have understood the knee jerk reaction had we given Bonner the job after his first four matches but giving it to him after the last two Calderwoodesque displays makes no sense to me, it's already looking like Dunne MK2. It'll sound very pessimistic I know but with What's happening in the world now and it's impact on Paul Barry's finances I can't see too much to get excited about on the horizon.

Cheap appointment reflects those running the club no ambition.
