Not surprising given the recent silence from the club. Strang remains front and centre. A wasted opportunity to take a fresh approach.

#disappointed has been trending all day on Twitter. Originally it was because of Les Dennis, but it seems fitting for Cambridge United now.

Well, all I can say is good luck to him.
I hope he does a John Beck and turns the on field fortunes of our beloved club around.
If he does, he will go down in our history, totally on merit, having done things his way.
I truly hope it works out well for all of us.

Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it. Truly bizarre.

Very uninspiring - coupled with Strang still being in charge of recruitment over the summer - next season doesn't look very hopeful either. Hard mass cull needed, more a case of who is worth keeping which is not many. I also would like to see Chadwick given the assistant role, if he can't enthuse the team no one can.

Totally underwhelmed. Of course I wish him all the very best and who knows this could turn out to be the shrewdest appointment since John Beck! But all in all this is hardly an announcement from the club that gets the pulse racing!!

This is the logical and necessary conclusion of the Bonner/CUFC story: doesn't seem credible that he could be a 'foisted' assistant for a third manager and, equally, doesn't seem credible that he'd be demoted to youth or leave the club.
Time to sink or swim! I wish him well.

Good luck Bons. You have earned a shot at it and a similar appointment to the bookies favourite rookie in Rusk anyway.

Even ignoring the fact that Chadwick has reduced his role at the club now that he's set up up his own business, I'm truly baffled by people calling for a leading role for him in our coaching set-up (and this goes back beyond today). Is it based on anything other than him having played at a decent level and being a U's fan? He's never coached above U-14s level.

Disastrous pointless cheap short sighted decision. I won't go while he's in charge

All very *yawn, isn't it. Think the club has missed an opportunity, to wipe clean and start again , rather than a re hash of previous fails. The contract renewals/new contracts is now pivotal. If we see a mass re- signing of current squad, Bonner is going to start the season with a very short patience with a lot of fans I think. I genuinely hope it works out, the first chance of this happening is to cut loose with a lot of what's here currently.
