As good a place as any to mention that I see football is about to trial sin bins for tactical fouls and exactly this kind of transgression from Digby.
I've generally been in favour in the past but having seen how terribly video refereeing has been applied in football and how cowardly gutless refering has filtered down the league's as a result I have absolutely no confidence sin bins would be anything other than a complete disaster.

More Xmas shopping for him then When you feel a decision is unjust it is hard to let it lie, but the game doesn't reward debating things with the ref these days.

I would agree with this if it weren't for the fact that the yellow he got was one of the clearest you'll ever see, so I assume something else must have riled him up rather than just the decision itself. Perhaps he thought one of their players had got away with one similar.

After last season’s 2 official apologies from the FA (or was it the EFL or refereeing body) for the officiating mistakes at FGR and MK, they could have just said we owe you one and let Digby off with the just the red card.

Three in a calender year if you include Jones sending off at Sunderland.
Whatever Digby said to ref was probably very stupid, very naughty, very costly and ultimately probably correct.

I hope PD takes a long hard look at himself.
If he had not been a complete and utter box of tools, the match at Northampton would have been there for the taking.
Different result. No Mark Bonner sacking.
Maybe one for the sliding doors moments thread.

Add it to Fej scoring the last minute penalty against Vale (+2 points) and Rennett's brain fart against Shrewsbury (+2 points) - even if everything else had gone the same since we'd be in the top half right now!

Digby’s red card was one of the few moments of passion I’ve seen from the group of players this season. Wise? No. But I’d rather have 11 Paul Digby’s than 11 better players who don’t care.

Not sure Digby's sending off materially affected the decision to sack Bonner. Do we really think we could have gone on and got an equaliser? We'll never know I guess. I can't see his inclusion on Tuesday would have really affected the outcome that day, which PB obviously saw as the final chance to turn things around, so while it won't have helped the team, not sure it actually affected the decision.
