It is 30 years ago that we had a crazy Easter weekend. We beat Orient 3-0 (Steve Butler hat trick) on the Friday and then beat Exeter on the Monday 5-0 (Butler scoring all 5). We were absolutely awesome, playing with no fear. Just exciting, attacking play. Be good if we can replicate that form this weekend! What we would do for a Steve Butler at the moment! (Not forgetting his supply line of course!)

A fine example of not writing a player off. Absolute garbage when we signed him. One cracked back later he was prime Lewandowski.

Was this the season we made a mad late run for the playoffs after being relegation threatened, that finally ended with a bonkers 4-5 home defeat to Huddersfield?

Late run for the playoffs is probably a little bit generous from my memory, but yeah, it was that season. A 7-2 win at Cardiff, too.

I took my daughter to her first football match 10 years ago today. We beat Hyde 7-2. There was a period in the second half where there was no goal for 20 minutes and she complained that nothing was happening. It was all downhill from then onwards! Four goals from Andy Pugh... www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/26898806

What a contrast with now!

Having watched the video with all the goals from that season numerous times, what always stands out for me is Jonno's commentary during this game where he says after a Pugh finish 'Right on cue, it's Andy Pugh'.

What a contrast with now! There was a South Stand promotion on so we had tickets for in there. On the day the take up was so poor they moved us into G Block and closed the whole stand. I have a photo of my daughter stood in there at 2.30, excitedly waving a flag, and the Habbin and NRE are both virtually empty. It's good to remember how far we've come.

If you want a real perspective on it, look up Money's apology the week after the infamous "Are you not entertained?" match against Hereford, where he says he was just being a grumpy old fool. That game put us 7 points clear at the top of the table and 13 games unbeaten from the start of the season. We have come a very, very long way in not a particularly long stretch of time. Strang out.

Can’t wait to board HMS Strang on our next party cruise or is that fishing trip ….
