"We're Cambridge United, we're back in the league!"
What a day.

8 years ago. So we've been back in the league nearly as long as we were out of the league.
That doesn't feel right to me. Feels like our exile was much longer than the time we've been back.

Our time in the league:
Phase 1: Getting resettled (Richard Money) Phase 2: Shaun Derry Phase 3: Rebuild after Shaun Derry (Dunne, Calderwood, Bonner) Phase 4: Bonnertopia

Completely agree with this - amazing to think it's 8 years already since that beautiful (sickeningly anxious) day at Wembley.

This is a good time of year for 'on this day' posts, eh?
On this day in 1990 we came the first ever team to win a play off final at Wembley. I smuggled some out of date nuts and an um bongo into Wembley.
Also, on the train home I predicted we'd get promoted again the next season and a fully grown man laughed at me. If you happen to be on this board and remember laughing at a 13 year old then I'm ready to accept your apology.

A very old and dear friend of mine who I grew up with in Cambridge (yes, more Perse-mafia!) now lives in Auckland, New Zealand, and tweeted me about the 1990 final this morning. It was a massive day out and one I’ll always remember fondly, especially the six feet high CUFC sprayed in the underpass outside The Globe.
Happy, happy day.

I was playing cricket for THE BLOODY PERSE on the day. We didn't know the result until someone called their parents from the garage* in Trumpington on our return. *The one still there. Where Noel Young wines was.** ** Another member of the Old Persean mafia.

9th march 1991. Highbury invasion. Andrew Remember it well. Coach down to the game, beers and into Highbury. Loads locked out from memory and gave a good account of ourselves against the champions.

I'm sure people (and possibly me) said it in the thread at the time.
