At fault for Northampton’s equaliserShould/could have done better at Stevenage First 2 goals should have been saved at Reading At least 2 were at his near post or through his legs at Lincoln Don't know why I'm arguing about this other than being a bit of a chief but I don't blame Stevens for the Northampton equiliser. He gambled on coming for it (which might have put off the Northampton player but didn't/Stevens was never going to get to the ball) but, had he stayed on his line, there is no way he would have been able to save the header which was travelling at great speed from a short distance. The first two goal yesterday were awful from his perspective. His kicking has also seriously deteriorated. I remember thinking in the first few home games that his kicking looked as good as any U's keeper I can remember!! So a keeper comes for the ball, misses it, and it’s not his fault? Right. On Saturday he dived for the ball twice, missed it. Not his fault either I assume. He has one job - keep the ball out of the friggin net.

It was an excellent ball in so he chose, in my opinion, the better of two bad options. The worst option would have been to stay on his line - there is no way he was saving that header. The second option was to attack the ball (with limited chance to get to it) but to hope to affect the opposition player in our favour.

He chose the worst of the two options, as the goal demonstrates. On his line he still had a chance of saving it, or even hoping one of our experienced CBs actually won the header.
